This Black History Month, we’re proud to recognize the Memphis IPS team and the impact they’re already making.

Launched in 2025, IPS Memphis reached a major milestone with our first-ever Vocational Rehabilitation Vendor Purchase Order (VPO) - made possible through strong partnership, leadership, and community-centered work.

Led by Zephora Walker, with frontline support from Jen Dotson and Jasmine Hatley-Owens, and operational leadership from August White, this team is helping consumers pursue meaningful employment and build lasting stability.

Honoring progress. Celebrating leadership. Investing in opportunity. Here at MHC.

Surprising truth: Human trafficking doesn’t usually look like kidnapping or strangers.
It often starts with trust, attention, and emotional manipulation, frequently online.

Early warning signs can show up as changes in mood, behavior, or mental health, not obvious danger. Understanding the reality helps us protect youth sooner.

Dr. King reminded us that access to healthcare is a civil right, and that includes mental healthcare.

We honor his legacy by working every day to remove barriers, expand access, and meet people where they are with compassionate, community-centered mental health support.

Today, we reflect. Tomorrow, we continue the work.

This January, for National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, MHC is partnering with AncoraTN to raise awareness about trafficking and its connection to youth mental health.

Groomers often target emotional vulnerability, and changes in mood or behavior can be early warning signs. Awareness, conversation, and support matter.
