Great story by Karen Aguilar of FOX17 Nashville on how Cura can help people stay safe during the cold weather.

“The biggest risk to seniors is a fall risk,” Moises Paz, CEO of Cura for Care, said. “That’s super dangerous, and then nobody is going to come get them because nobody knows they are there, and they may be two or three days on the floor waiting for somebody to come.”

Paz said his caretakers are prepared to stay with clients during the winter storm.

“We are sending our staff to basically move in with them. They take their little overnight bag, and they stay there, and they cook, and they prepare meals for them, and they shower while they're there, and they do laundry, and they provide all kinds of assistance for them,” Paz said.

His caretakers will have all batteries charged, along with extra blankets and food to last until it’s safe for people to get in and out of the home.

For seniors who can’t afford a caretaker, Paz advises reaching out to others, even neighbors, and said it is critical during the cold snap.

"The bottom line is. People need assistance, and somebody needs to be there,'" said Paz.

While some senior citizens can afford home healthcare, those who can’t may face challenges this weekend as a winter storm moves into Middle Tennessee.
