Veterans in Cookeville, Tennessee will soon have greater access to VA health care.
Interim Deputy Executive Director Dr. Bridget Brozyna from VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System announced plans for a new VA clinic opening in Cookeville by 2030. The announcement was made during a recent Veteran Resource Fair at Tennessee Tech University.
The larger facility will expand primary care, mental health, and specialty services, helping more Veterans receive care closer to home.
More than fifty Veterans attended the resource fair to connect with VA and state services. Information tables were available for Veterans to enroll in VA health care, learn about PACT Act benefits and Caregiver support services, and explore digital tools like My HealtheVet.
Dr. Brozyna also highlighted TVHS’s five-star quality rating, with 93 percent of Veterans trusting their care at VA.

Alzheimer's is a brain disorder that progresses overtime and causes a variety of symptoms including memory loss, language loss and more. Around 11% of Americans suffer from Alzheimer's and VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) cares for more than 7,000 Veterans with different forms of dementia. TVHS has 1 of 20 geriatric research education and clinical centers in the nation. Currently, TVHS is researching causes and treatments of dementia and Alzheimer's.
However, dementia is not a normal part of aging. If you are experiencing symptoms of dementia, it is important to follow VA's dementia warning signs to guide assessment and diagnosis.

The mobile mammography bus is back at VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS), continuing its mission to make breast cancer screenings easier and more accessible for Veterans.
The mobile mammogram bus has proven especially beneficial for Veterans in North Georgia and rural areas, allowing them to access care closer to home rather than traveling to larger facilities in Nashville or Murfreesboro. Each visit, the mobile unit typically serves between 20 and 30 Veterans, offering quick and convenient screenings. The Women’s Health team understands that making care easy to access is key to preventive health for Veterans, not just reactionary treatment.
“If you make it easy for Veterans to do preventive health care, they will do it,” Melissa McNabb said. “You can tell people all day that early detection can save their life, but convenience makes all the difference.”
