In November, Shayne Elementary School Health Nurse Sarah Briley was named the school nurse of the year by the Tennessee Association of School Nurses. The School Health team wanted to celebrate the occasion, and make sure Nurse Briley knew how proud they are of her!

In 2025, we accomplished so much together by meeting people where they are. While this video doesn’t capture every program or service at MPHD, it highlights some of the moments we shared with our community throughout the year. We look forward to serving Davidson County in even greater ways in 2026.

Happy New Year, Nashville! 🎉

The New Year often inspires fresh goals and new beginnings. Today marks Day 1 of a smoke-free year. Every cigarette you skip is a step toward stronger lungs, a healthier heart, and a brighter future. You don’t have to do this alone—let’s do it together.

For more information and to learn about resources available to support your journey, please contact Danielle Duke at 615-340-5334 and turn your “one day” into Day 1.

We wish everyone a safe, fun, and exciting New Year’s Eve! 🎆

MPHD’s Behavioral Health & Wellness team has strategically placed Narcan vending machines throughout Nashville as part of our efforts to combat overdose rates and save lives. These machines provide free Naloxone to help people access lifesaving resources when they’re needed most.

If you or someone you know could use Naloxone, please visit one of our three vending machines or MPHD locations to obtain it at no cost. You can find one of our naloxone vending machines at the Exxon at 2200 Brick Church Pike or the Tennessee Justice Center at 155 Lafayette Street, in addition to the one at the Twice Daily at 1702 West End Avenue.

The Metro Public Health Department’s Behavioral Health & Wellness team is here to help. Call 615-340-2172 to speak with someone today.

🌼 We would like to highlight Emily’s journey to earning her DAISY Award. The DAISY Award is a prestigious honor given to extraordinary nurses who make a meaningful impact on patients, families, or colleagues.

School nurses have a direct and lasting impact on students every day. For many children, the school nurse may be their only access to healthcare. Emily’s compassion, dedication, and commitment to school health truly embody the spirit of this award. 🩺

Thank you, Emily, for your outstanding service and dedication to our students and school communities.

Mental Health is an important topic at all times, but especially this time of year. Our team worked with Fund Recovery to collect stories of strength, resilience and the importance of taking care of our mental health. We'll be sharing these stories over the coming weeks to highlight that you are not alone, so look for them on our social media pages.

If you are in need of mental health support or resources, feel free to reach out to us. The Metro Public Health Department's Behavioral Health & Wellness team is available to help. Call our team at 615-340-2172 and speak to someone today.
