A Misaligned Big Toe: When your big toe shifts inward, you lose normal foot function. Find out the best way to begin to realign your toes.

Posterior Tibialis Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD): Many of you think you have plantar fasciitis, but it's really PTTD. This misdiagnosis is common and prevents many patients from resolving their foot pain. (Hint: your pain is more on the inside of the ankle and arch, and not the heel)

The Presence Of Fascial Adhesions. If fascial adhesions are present, stretching and strengthening efforts are virtually ineffective.

Well, here it is!!!

Step 5 in my plantar fasciitis recovery program is releasing fascial adhesions in your feet and lower leg musculature. This is one of the most critical steps in resolving your PF.

Adhesions in your fascia MUST be released before other treatments can be effective.

Attempting to stretch or strengthen your feet and lower leg will be virtually ineffective if there is adhesion development in these areas.

If fascial restrictions are present, they restrict your mobility, weaken your muscles, and create significant pain.

Most of you know this, but I retired from my chiropractic practice in 2020. Due to the pandemic, I lost my 20 year, downtown Nashville practice overnight.

I also lost my mom during this time.🥲Candy and I made the decision to move to Mississippi to be close to her family.

I started an online business focused on a foot condition called plantar fasciitis. My brick & mortar practice had already started to shift to more foot focused.

I wasn't sure if I could build a brand and a business on this one foot problem. It turns out that because PF is so common and so debilitating, I have been able to grow a significant following, and create a biz even more successful than my chiro biz without the big overhead.

God does that sort of stuff🙏

4 Foods To Avoid For A Healthy Thyroid

Low thyroid function occurs when your thyroid does not make enough thyroid hormone. Your thyroid is your body's gas pedal and it controls metabolism.

If it is under-active, it puts the brakes on your metabolic engine and you feel sluggish and can experience weight gain, fatigue, and depression.

The secret to thyroid hormonal harmony is avoiding harmful, inflammatory foods.

Eliminate these foods:

1️⃣ Gluten: The #1 worst food for your thyroid is gluten. Gluten is a protein found in wheat and grains. You have to completely take gluten out of your diet to begin to reset your thyroid. Gluten creates inflammation and further leads to unhealthy thyroid and adrenal glands.

What's your average number of hours you sleep per night?

💤Please, answer in the comments. There is a strong correlation between your sleep quality and the status of your health, and how quickly you heal.

Everyone is diverse and has different needs, but the average recommendation for a good nights sleep is between 7-9 hours.

If you are struggling to get restorative sleep, try these natural sleep remedies.

1. Sleep from 10pm-2am: The deepest and most regenerative sleep occurs between the hours of 10pm-2am.

2. Eliminate light exposure: Put away phones, laptops, tablets, and TV several hours before bedtime.

3. Get more exercise: Studies show that those who exercise regularly get more restorative sleep, and show less sign of apnea and insomnia.

4. Create a restful space: Start winding down a good hour or two before you plan on actually being asleep. Make your bedroom quiet, dark, cool, and relaxing. Save it for sleep and s*x only!

5. Avoid caffeine & alcohol: Avoid coffee, tea, and sodas after 2 pm. Also avoid alcohol. It may seem to promote sleep initially, but it ultimately robs you of deep restorative sleep.

What Causes Tension Headaches?

The most common type of headache is a tension headache. Tension headaches are also called stress headaches or neck headaches and originate in the neck and across the shoulders.

The pain can also radiate to the whole head, temporal and frontal regions. Triggers of tension headaches include emotional stress, alcohol, eye strain, dry eyes, fatigue, poor posture, dehydration and lack of sleep.

The most common cause of tension headaches is poor posture that creates muscular tension in the neck and shoulders.

Forward Head Posture, also called Text Neck or Reading Neck, is a posture pattern where the head goes forward in relationship to the shoulders.

This anterior head carriage puts tremendous stress on the neck and shoulders and can cause a very painful headache.

In fact, for every 1 inch your head moves forward, the relative weight of the head over the body doubles due to the effects of gravity.

Proper posture is when the center of the ear lines up with the center of the shoulder.

The most effective treatments for tension headaches include:

▶️Chiropractic manipulation to correct misalignments in the cervical spine and improve posture.

▶️Massage therapy to diminish muscular tightness of the neck and across the shoulders.

▶️Stretching protocols for the cervical spine and shoulders

Does CBD Work For Stress Relief?

Due to CBD’s rising popularity, a number of studies have examined it as a calming remedy.

Research shows that it has profound calming properties. Especially with reducing racing minds, elevated heart rates, and thus lowering feelings of anxiety.

I have personally noticed that I feel more grounded and I am able to focus on tasks more efficiently when I take CBD regularly.

CBD Helps To Balance Your Mood

When we are experiencing anxiety, our brain releases hormones that put us in ‘fight or flight’ mode. This actually takes the body’s resources away from critical systems - like our immune response.

CBD has the amazing ability to subtly help balance your mood and diminish anxiety. It gives you a sense of peace even if the world around you is going crazy.

CBD Effects Serotonin

CBD has been shown in controlled lab tests to affect how the brain reacts to the serotonin present in the body.

Forward head posture (FHP) is a common condition where your head shifts forward in relation to your shoulders.

FHP is one of the most common causes of neck pain, shoulder pain, and headaches that I see in my practice.

In normal or neutral head posture, the center of your ears should line up with the center of your shoulders.

FHP is also called “text neck” or "tech neck" because it results from prolonged bending toward a computer screen, or hunching over a laptop or cell phone.

The good news is that you can usually fix it: Stretching and strengthening exercises along with correcting poor posture at your workstation or while you are viewing your phone.

Exercises to try:

Chin tucks: Tuck your chin and glide your head straight back. Hold for 2 seconds and repeat 10-15 times.

Chest stretches/Head Extension: Stand in a doorway and raise each arm up to the side, bent at 90-degree angles with palms forward. Lean in, look up into neck extension and hold each stretch for only 2 seconds and repeat 10-15 reps.

Many of my plantar fasciitis patients have been instructed by practitioners to rest or take a few weeks off from all activities and rest.

This news can be painful to hear for those of you who are avid walkers or runners. Especially if you are training for a race or marathon.

Many of you follow these recommendation and take time off, but when you return to your favorite activity, the same problem arises.

This recurring pain pattern is a classic presentation of plantar fasciitis. Rest will not resolve the pain. You must correct the underlying problem.

If you want to fix the problem, you need a rehab plan involving structured exercises and progressive loading to rebuild your foot core strength and restore strength and flexibility to your calf and peroneal muscles.
