Restore Small Groups

Restore Small Groups Helping people transform their lives through safe, quality, and affordable peer-to-peer small groups. Everyone is struggling with something. You are not alone!

In small group, we extend love, empathy, and respect to each other in our shared humanity. Our groups consist of 5 to10 participants and 2 trained facilitators, all who commit to an 8-week journey together. In group we get to the heart of our struggles, building intentional, healing relationships on the way. With thousands of participants worldwide, we have seen transformation in the areas of anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-worth, grief and loss, rage, loneliness, or anything else holding you back from a full life. Restore Small Groups was founded by Scott Reall at the YMCA of Middle Tennessee and now operates as it's own non-profit. Scott and Executive Director Sara Hamill work to intentionally provide Journey to Freedom, our flagship book, and other small groups as a means to offer a path to lasting transformation for anyone dealing with life's struggles.

Restore Small Groups partners with churches, nonprofits, YMCAs, counseling centers, recovery spaces, and more to offer a guided, small-group process that helps people move from survival toward meaningful change and lasting transformation.

Our faith-based curriculum and group process is trauma-informed, relational, and deeply human. It creates safe, structured spaces where participants can grow self-awareness, process life experiences, strengthen emotional health, and build meaningful connection with others.

Restore groups don’t replace therapy or pastoral care. They complement them by giving people a consistent, facilitated space to practice honesty, regulation, and belonging.

If your organization is looking for a proven group process that supports mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being—and equips people with tools they can carry forward—we’d love to explore a partnership.

In order for true life-change to be lasting, Prochaska said there are stages of change that all people must go through:
• Precontemplation – Not yet seeing the problem
• Contemplation – Knowing something needs to change, but feeling stuck
• Preparation – Desire growing, readiness emerging
• Action – Taking intentional steps, fueled from within
• Maintenance – Sustaining change through awareness and support

In a Restore, you don’t have to be ready to fix your life.
You just have to be willing to begin where you are.

Alyssa’s story is why Restore exists.

What began as a season of survival, marked by abuse, exhaustion, and despair, became a calling to walk with other women who are rebuilding their lives after addiction and incarceration.

What once needed healing now helps heal others.
What was survived is now shared as hope.
This is restoration at work.

Your generosity makes stories like Alyssa’s possible.

Rebecca’s story is why Restore exists.

What began as a season of deep personal pain became a calling to walk with others, bringing healing to Marines, families, and communities who desperately need a safe place to breathe.

When healing is shared, it multiplies.
When truth is welcomed, hope takes root.
This is restoration at work.

Your generosity makes stories like Rebecca’s possible.

We spend a lot of energy managing our lives instead of truly facing them.
Restore groups offer a place to slow down, name what’s really going on beneath the surface, and begin the kind of change that comes from honesty and courage. When we name our stories, we loosen their grip and make room for freedom.

Our winter groups are starting soon.
