Restore Small Groups

Restore Small Groups Helping people transform their lives through safe, quality, and affordable peer-to-peer small groups. Everyone is struggling with something. You are not alone!

In small group, we extend love, empathy, and respect to each other in our shared humanity. Our groups consist of 5 to10 participants and 2 trained facilitators, all who commit to an 8-week journey together. In group we get to the heart of our struggles, building intentional, healing relationships on the way. With thousands of participants worldwide, we have seen transformation in the areas of anxi

ety, depression, relationship issues, low self-worth, grief and loss, rage, loneliness, or anything else holding you back from a full life. Restore Small Groups was founded by Scott Reall at the YMCA of Middle Tennessee and now operates as it's own non-profit. Scott and Executive Director Sara Hamill work to intentionally provide Journey to Freedom, our flagship book, and other small groups as a means to offer a path to lasting transformation for anyone dealing with life's struggles.

Together, participants will:
• Experience safe, authentic connection through group guidelines and a structured curriculum
• Grow in self-awareness by examining their life and story with God and supportive others
• Build emotional capacity through weekly emotional reflection and honest processing
• Seek restoration from the pain and brokenness of the human condition
• Give God space to transform unhealthy perceptions, beliefs, and patterns
• Move toward lasting healing, freedom, and transformation

You don’t have to navigate it alone.

Healing and transformation are happening inside Kadoma prison in Zimbabwe through Restore groups. Inmates navigating murder charges and drug-related offenses are gathering in small groups to reflect, share honestly, and seek healing and reunion with Christ.

Pictured are Francis Lembani and Vakai Matutu, faithfully helping cultivate spaces of healing, reflection, and hope inside the prison system.

Did you know our groups are built on an evidence-based model for change from Dr. James Prochaska? He outlines stages people move through for real change: Precontemplation→Contemplation→Preparation→Action→Maintenance

Research shows nearly 80% of people aren’t ready for meaningful action. They’re in contemplation, aware something needs to change, but unsure how. Restore groups meet people there, help them build vision, and move into lasting change.

The truth is, we don’t come fully alive in isolation. We come to understand ourselves in the presence of others who are willing to see us, hear us, and stay with us. In those spaces, something shifts. Your body settles, your thoughts become clearer, and your story doesn’t feel as overwhelming.

Healing often takes shape in honest, relational spaces where Christ is at the center and we don’t have to perform or have it all figured out.

At Restore, we create safe spaces for people to slow down, name what’s really going on beneath the surface, and take meaningful steps toward greater wellbeing. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply ready to grow, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

At the center of it all, we trust that God meets us in these spaces and does the deeper work of healing and transformation.

Save the date!

Our annual Celebration of Hope is a night where we gather to share remarkable stories of hope and healing—stories of God at work through our partners and facilitators here at home and all over the world.

This night is about remembering what’s possible… when people are given a safe space to be honest, to be seen, and to begin again.

We would love for you to be part of the story!

What would it look like if your organization became known as a place where honest conversations happen?
Where leaders are equipped.
Where emotional health is normalized.
Where faith and psychology work together.
Where people don't have to hide their struggles.

One of the biggest reasons transformation happens in a Restore group is because of how intentionally we create and protect the space. These group guidelines were developed with the help of a team of professional counselors to ensure a consistently safe environment for meaningful sharing and healing.

Our guidelines allow people to show up honestly, be fully seen, and begin doing the deeper work of healing in community.

That tension sits at the heart of the work we do. Facing our stories and embracing vulnerability isn’t easy, but avoiding it often costs us far more, keeping us from the connection, belonging, and joy we’re made for.

Restore Small Groups create a safe, intentional space to be honest, supported, and not alone as we explore both the darkness and the light within our stories, and begin to co-create with God in the work of healing and transformation.

If you feel ready to step into that process, we’d love to walk with you: https://www.restoresmallgroups.org/experience
