Oak & Clove Midwifery

Oak & Clove Midwifery We provide homebirth midwifery services to the Middle Tennessee area. Hello! During my first pregnancy, a whole new world opened for me.

We blend a holistic approach with evidence-based information to help you make the best choices for you and your family! I am Aubrey McMillan and I am the heart and soul behind Birth of Life Doula Services. I am a certified doula, birth keeper, childbirth educator, placenta specialist, and reiki practitioner. It is my passion to ensure families feel informed and supported through their pregnancy, b

irth, and new parenthood journey. My goal is for each person I work with to feel confident in the choices that they make. My background is filled with caring for young children and supporting their families through parenthood. As I learned about birth through a childbirth education class, I was on the edge of my seat with excitement for what was to come. My enthusiasm only grew from there, and after the birth of my first daughter I truly understood the value of a doula's continuous support. Having worked as a doula the past several years, I feel confident that pursuing this vocation is my life’s purpose. I blend a holistic perspective with inclusive, evidence-based information. This paired with my innate ability to be adaptable, calming, and instinctual makes me a valuable member to any birth team. I started walking my doula path in 2017, and since then I have experienced birth in a variety of ways. I have supported families through home, birth center, and hospital births. I have assisted with medicated, unmedicated and cesarean births. I have witnessed twins being born and VBACs (vaginal birth after cesarean) being rocked. I am a loss and rainbow mother. I live just west of Nashville with my husband and two daughters. My own birth experiences include a cesarean and a homebirth VBAC. When I am not working with a client, I can be found exploring a new trail, collecting herbs and crystals, binge watching a new TV show, or doing a craft with my kids.

To every mother—
To the ones giving birth,
To the ones healing,
To the ones grieving,
To the ones waiting,
To the ones mothering in ways unseen…

Today, we honor you. 💜

Motherhood is not one path. It’s not one story.
It’s strength and softness.
It’s joy and ache.
It’s loss and life.
It’s showing up again and again—with love.

From my heart to yours,
Happy Mother’s Day.

Midwives make a difference.
With every contraction, I hold hands.
With every push, I whisper strength.
With every birth, I witness miracles.

Being a midwife isn’t just my work—it’s my calling, my heart, and the deepest honor of my life.
Today, on International Day of the Midwife, I celebrate the sacred, powerful, beautiful work of midwifery. And I thank every family who’s invited me into their story.

Here’s to midwives everywhere—serving with love, courage, and compassion.

This girl passed the NARM exam today!!!
Which means… I’ll soon be a Certified Professional Midwife, offering care to families in the sacred space of homebirth.

It still feels surreal.

This journey started in 2017, when I first stepped into birth work as a doula. In 2022, I began my midwifery apprenticeship with the absolute best preceptors . I loved learning from you and supporting each and every family! I am so grateful for the time, energy, and love you all showed me! Now, in 2025, I’m stepping into my own midwifery practice.

There were so many moments I wondered if I’d make it.
But today, I did.
And not alone.

Huge love to for coming with me today, holding space for me, and studying beside me through all the long days and deep dives. I truly wouldn’t be here without you—and I’m so glad we get to do this work together.

Then I came home to a clean house thanks to and .restorative.mama—you two are magic. Thank you for thinking of me and making space for me to land.

To the many hands and hearts who’ve cheered me on, quizzed me, prayed for me, and believed in me—thank you for being my village.

Here’s to the work ahead—with reverence, with joy, with fierce love.

2024 has been an unforgettable year of growth, learning, and incredible moments.

As my student midwife journey comes to a close, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who supported me through my apprenticeship. Your encouragement, love, and belief in me have meant the more than the world. I will never have the right words to properly share my gratitude!

I’m thrilled to share that I’m officially in the process of certifying and licensing as a Certified Professional Midwife and can’t wait to start serving families as I take clients for fall 2025 and beyond!

To every mentor, peer, and family who trusted me along the way—thank you for allowing me to be part of such sacred moments. Here’s to continuing this beautiful work in the year ahead! 💜

“Motherhood is my Ministry”

These words sink in deep for me.

Most of my life has been focused on motherhood. Whether through supporting mothers by caring for their children, mothering mothers as they walk through pregnancy, birth and postpartum, or even through becoming a mother myself.

A little back story for those who don’t know me. My biggest goal for my life was to be a mom. As a child, my view of this was smaller than what it actually encompasses now. My children are my whole world, they teach me so much and help remind me to slow down. But now, I’m watching maidens become mothers, helping them navigate this rite of passage.

From a young age I cared for children. As a kid myself, I would help out in the baby and toddler rooms at church. Then as a teenager, I babysat frequently. Fun note: I watched a few kids that would beg their parents to go out for a date night so I would come over. 😅 From there I moved into early childhood education and now into birth work.

My life is now centered around motherhood and my vocation is to sit at the feet of mothers and families.

I borrowed this sweatshirt from .restorative.mama and snuck a photo! ❤️

Oh and I chopped my hair off again! 💇‍♀️

Tonight at 7:00pm I lit this candle to honor and remember the babies gone too soon. One flame for the babies, including my sweet angel baby and the other flame for all of families remember their babies today. 💗

Midwifery.

This is not just a job for me, it’s my passion. Over time, I have gone from supporting families by caring for their children, to now holding their hand as they grow their family.

I’m so grateful for the people in my life that are helping me on my journey, teaching me, learning with me, guiding me, supporting me.

A big thank you to my preceptors and fellow students midwives. You all mean so much to me. ❤️

Also, the sweet little baby that I am holding in the first photo is the first baby I caught!

Today was the final day of the Twin Breech Conference. I’ve learned so much these last few days and from some amazing people.

Favorite phrases from this weekend:
“Tush to bush”
“Feet don’t breath”
“Arm towards belly”
“I like big rumps and I cannot lie”

There was some great conversation on some big topics near and dear to me. There was hands on practice, which is the best way for me to really understand and to feel the information I’ve been taught. While this practice will be ongoing, I am grateful for this start.

The last picture is from me spending time with my girls. I didn’t get much time to talk with them this weekend and we were all so ready for some quality time before bed. They created a hair salon for me.

I am feeling so many emotions this week. It’s been such an exciting weekend and an extremely hard week. I’m both jumping for joy and really heartbroken for a near and dear doula family going through the unimaginable loss of their toddler, a sweet and spicy girl I witnessed coming into this world. Her funeral was today, while I was on my way back into town. Kallie and her family have been on my mind and in my heart so much this week.

All this to say, be present as often as you can. Do what you love and be with who you love as you are able. Each moment is precious, even if hard.

Day three of the Twin Breech Conference has been so great!

I’m beyond grateful for everyone here that’s been sharing such wise wisdom. I’m making new friends, fan girling just slightly, and learning so much incredible information!

I’m so excited to be a midwife soon and I’m so happy to be learning these skills and to one day put them into practice!
