The NEW Dietary Guidelines for Americans has just been announced and the message is simple: eat real food!

2020–2025 GUIDELINES-
- Based on decades of mainstream nutrition science emphasizing overall healthy dietary patterns.
- Encouraged nutrient-dense foods to meet nutrient needs and prevent chronic disease.
- For the first time included life-stage guidance (infancy through older adulthood).

NEW 2025–2030 GUIDELINES
- Shift in framing to “eat real food”: prioritize whole, nutrient-dense foods and reduce ultra-processed foods.
- Strong mood toward personal choice and simplicity, with a new inverted food pyramid placing proteins, vegetables, fruits and healthy fats at the top.
