Schoenecker Lab

Schoenecker Lab The Schoenecker Lab, part of Vanderbilt Translational Orthopeadics and The Vanderbilt center for Bone Biology in Nashville, TN.

Powered by the Caitlin Lovejoy Fund, NIH, DOD, VA, PXE International, POSNA, OREF and an amazing multidisciplinary team. The Caitlin Lovejoy Fund, directly supports mentoring and teaching medical students the process of conducting translational research. The goal is to provide mentorship and an environment that allows medical students to design a project that will take them through all of the crit

ical steps required to become doctor scientists. Students understand the importance of first identifying a key knowledge gap in the practice of medicine that would greatly impact healthcare if we were to fill this knowledge gap. They learn to design and carry out projects that bridge the research and clinical settings. Without this experience, it is a daunting task to find success as both a clinician and a scientist. The Caitlin Lovejoy Fund enables students to achieve competence, be completely immersed in research, and eventually see a positive change brought about by their outcomes.
