As the holiday season unfolds, it’s important to remember that rest is not a reward, it’s a necessity! This time of year can bring joy, but it can also bring stress, grief, and exhaustion. Giving yourself permission for active rest and reflection can help you enter the new year feeling grounded and supported.
Active rest might look like taking a quiet walk, limiting your schedule, creating space away from screens, or simply allowing yourself to pause without productivity. Reflection can be as simple as noticing what sustained you this year, what challenged you, and what you’re proud of, without judgment.
Tips for protecting your mental health during the holidays:
- Set realistic expectations and boundaries around time, energy, and finances
Take breaks from social obligations when needed
-Stay connected to supportive people, even in small ways
-Maintain routines that support sleep, movement, and nourishment
-Reach out for help if the season feels overwhelming, support is a strength!
However you spend this season, know that caring for your mental health matters. You deserve rest, reflection, and moments of peace.
