A little late night rambling. Watching, “Country Music: A Film by Ken Burns,” and I hear the name DeFord Bailey. Our cross street at Massage of Nashville was named after him just a couple of years ago, and until that time, I had never heard of him. I looked him up then and learned he was the first African American in the Country Music Hall of Fame. I learned tonight, due to Polio, he was only 4’10” tall and about 110 pounds. He was often featured on the WSM radio program, which is still running out of the Opry Hotel. Bailey often performed with Uncle Dave Macon, who is still well known today and has a festival in his namesake held each year in Murfreesboro. Owning a massage studio on Music Row is really fascinating. We are a little part of history. I should be asleep, and so should you. Enjoy the full moon energy. 🌕
