LiveBeyond is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides maternal and child health and education to vulnerable populations worldwide.

LiveBeyond is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides healthcare, education, and nutritional support to vulnerable populations in order to foster the development of sustainable communities. The focus of operations since 2012 has centered on the LiveBeyond base in Thomazeau, Haiti. This base serves as the home for the LiveBeyond mother and child program, the school, Johnny's Kids program, hospital, nutrition program, and agricultural farm. In 2021, LiveBeyond expanded Johnny's Kids operations into the land of Israel to serve individuals with disabilities.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, one of the deadliest natural disasters in U.S. history.
1833 lives were lost, and countless others were uprooted.

In those difficult days, my wife Laurie and I began what would later become LiveBeyond. We set up medical relief in Biloxi, Mississippi, treating those who had lost homes, livelihoods, and family members. We saw firsthand how quickly hope can collapse—and how urgently people need care, compassion, and a reminder that they are not forgotten.

That experience shaped everything that came after. From Haiti to India, from the West Bank to Ghana, LiveBeyond has been about bringing the same care we offered in Biloxi: life-saving medical help, dignity, and the love of Christ.

As we remember Katrina and those we lost, we also remember how God brought new purpose out of tragedy.

The visit too many families miss
Complications often surface after birth. We schedule structured postpartum follow-up—early and close—to catch infection, fix breastfeeding issues, and keep vaccinations on time.
Those visits are short, focused, and they prevent readmissions.

Delivery teams that are ready
Birth is not the time to improvise. Our deliveries are led by trained MDs or midwives in-facility, with clear roles and a rehearsed plan for emergencies.
Teams win. Mothers and babies go home safer.

Why we insist on eight antenatal contacts
More visits mean more chances to prevent trouble. We standardize ≥8 ANC contacts and supply prenatal vitamins throughout pregnancy.
It’s a routine, not a guess: reminders, flexible clinic hours, and a visit checklist that staff can follow every time.

Catch problems early, then track them
The quiet risks—anemia, preeclampsia, infection—can escalate fast. We meet moms early, test and treat, and track progress in a lightweight EHR so no one slips through the cracks.
Early contact changes outcomes. The data proves it, and it’s simple to run.
