My journey brought me to Nashville 21 years ago this week!

I got a business license, and Nashville Hypnosis was born.

Things were tumultuous at that time in my life. I was divorced, broke, and feeling lost.

Deep down, I knew I wanted to be a force for good in the world, and hypnosis was the tool I intended to use, though that was about all I knew.

I worked as a waiter in the evenings, practicing conversational hypnosis with my tables and coworkers. This experience taught me how to persuade and influence others.

I focused solely on enhancing their experience, not necessarily for financial gain—even though it was a nice bonus when my customers enjoyed their evening.

My biggest tip was over $800. That was a BIG deal in 2004!

I learned how to control attention and inspire people to make better choices through suggestions, language patterns, and a keen awareness of their responses.

I discovered how to adapt my communication to build deeper rapport with others.

At the time, I worked in a high-end restaurant in Nashville, where celebrities, politicians, and wealthy business owners were among our clientele.

Many guests requested me by name because they knew they would have an extraordinary experience.

As I continued to learn in that restaurant, I increasingly applied conversational techniques to my work.

Eventually, I became passionate about how well-intentioned covert conversations can positively impact people’s lives.

Your training sucks!

I mean, it's true if you are one of those script-reading hypnotists.

I know; I'm going to p**s off several people when they read this. I don't care.

If you went to a Hypnosis training and walked away with a bookful of scripts, you got screwed.

I can't, with any honesty, call script readers "Hypnotherapists."

Script readers are the cover bands of hypnosis.

Save your defense of script reading. You will never convince me that script readers are genuinely focused on their clients.

They don't pay enough attention to them to truly understand their problems, and they miss all the unconscious responses that reveal everything.

They are so focused on getting the script right that they take their attention away from their client.

Almost all problems can be resolved through hypnosis without an overt trance experience.

I can hear a few of you are breathing harder right now.

Do you need a session?

Do you not trust yourself enough to create a deep connection with your clients and help them from the root of the problem?

When you understand how to connect with people on the deepest level, their unconscious mind will reveal everything they need to overcome their problems.

I'm not saying it's your fault. You trusted someone who told you what to do.

I get it. I went through many BAD trainings in the beginning.

Those trainings never taught me to pay attention to body language.

They never told me that the voice tells more than I was noticing.

They didn't point out that the face will expose the unconscious mind.

They never taught me that words are the containers of meaning that the client has accepted as "truth."

What they didn't tell me could fill a bookcase.

Unfortunately, because most trainings suck, most hypnotists are offering subpar changework.

I am out to change that.

The world deserves to have thousands of AMAZING Hypnotherapists out there to help them find relief from their pasts, stop doing stupid things to themselves, let go of fears that don't matter anymore, create confidence in themselves, improve their game, etc.

I could write another page on the issues I have helped people overcome over the years, but you get it.

I moved to Nashville 21 years ago with the intention of starting my business.

I knew one person here whom I had met just a few weeks before. He invited me to crash on his couch.

Well, I crashed. I was on that couch longer than either of us wanted me there.

I had less than $400 to my name and a pile of debt. I spent most of the cash on hand putting my stuff in storage.

I was struggling emotionally and financially.

I was hungry, depressed and feeling completely alone. I didn't really have much support.

I usually heard from friends and family that I needed to "find a job." "That hypnosis thing is crazy. It'll never work."

I managed to get a bussing job at a nice restaurant so I could work at night and work on my "business" during the day.

I am not built for a job. I knew I had to be self-employed, or I would be miserable. And I was.

I didn't have a business, and I had no idea how to build one or market it.

I was broke, sleeping on a couch, living out of a duffel bag, bussing tables at a restaurant, and trying to figure out how to build a business with the one skill that excited me: hypnosis.

I bounced in and out of depression. I had little support and less money.

Looking back over the years, I am amazed I made it. I am proud of that guy I was; He stuck it out through all the odds, depression, loneliness, and fear. He made it through the rejections and toughest of times.

What drove me? Helping people.

I knew I had a gift that I had to use. I felt called to serve the world, and I still do.

Today, I have a practice filled with amazing clients who are excited about my help.

I work with professional athletes from all sports, celebrities from film and music, the most honorable veterans, and thousands of people worldwide.

I have helped thousands of people quit smoking, release weight, stop feeling anxious, improve their sport, let go of traumas, and discover their true selves.

I have hundreds of students on almost all the continents.

I set my hours and rates and decide with whom I wish to work.

I work less hours and make more money.

I made more money last week than in my first year of radio!

I travel around the country on my motorcycle and visit great friends.

I am happier than I have ever been. I am healthier than I have ever been.

What changed, you ask?

I found the right people to follow. I found my mentors who showed me how to build a business and how to BE a better version of myself every day.

Please don't take this as bragging or being boastful, I am not doing either. I want you to understand the possibilities you can create in your life, as well.

Over the years, I have watched hundreds of students go through my trainings and the trainings of many other teachers and never go any further.

I have seen too many people with amazing gifts not believe in themselves enough to create a business they love or have the tenacity to stick through the hard times.

To have a thriving Hypnotherapy/coaching business, you must develop your skills, mindset, and business plan.

There are certain principles you must know to be successful.
When you develop these three things, you will be amazed at how your life will differ.

I mentioned a few days ago that thoughts are things. Well, the thought of starting a podcast is now a thing. I am recording the first episode this morning, with five more in the works. I'm thinking about starting a podcast about Everything Unconscious. We will cover hypnosis, behaviors, unconscious communication, beliefs, mind control and manipulation by outside forces, and who knows what else—probably a bunch of unconscious, out-of-your-awareness stuff. Who should be my first guest?
