I received a phone call that she fell and was being transported to the hospital. I needed to meet the ambulance there. She has dementia. After running some tests, they found a mass.

Did she know she had this? I don’t know.
Has she lost weight? I don’t know.
Has she been in pain? I don’t know.
Have her daily activities changed? I don’t know.
When was her last PAP? I don’t know.
Who is her GYN? I don’t know.
What are her Living Will directives? I don’t know.

In that crucial moment, I didn’t know my mother’s physical being, her medical history, her health care team and she wasn’t able to tell me anymore. I wished I had paid more attention through the years. I wished it was all written down somewhere for me. For her.
