Each year, TriStar Centennial comes together to support the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund—a lifeline for colleagues facing unexpected hardship. This week, we reflect on what that support truly means.

Yvonne Glass, a music therapist at TriStar Centennial, recently shared her journey. Years ago, her daughter Amelia was diagnosed with cancer at just 3½ years old. In that moment of crisis, Yvonne turned to her TriStar family—and the Hope Fund—for help. It was a source of strength during an unimaginable time.

Five years later, tragedy struck again when a house fire—caused by the family dog—left them with devastating losses. Once more, the Hope Fund was there, helping them rebuild.

Today, Amelia works in patient transport at the hospital, and Yvonne continues to bring healing through music. Their story is a powerful reminder of the resilience within our community, and the impact of how our colleagues show up for each other.

Today, and every day, we honor and remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001. Our hearts are with the families, survivors and all who were forever changed by that day. Together with our HCA Healthcare family, we reflect on the courage of our first responders and everyday citizens who acted with extraordinary bravery. We will never forget.

"EVS is the pulse of TriStar Centennial." Our Environmental Service team goes beyond care, giving patients one less thing to worry about so they can feel safe and focus on healing. Behind every clean room and comforting smile is our ES team — they go beyond care so patients can rest, recover, and heal.

This week, we celebrate YOU!

Today is Wear Teal Day—an annual observance during Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month that draws attention to ovarian cancer, the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers.

In 2025, an estimated 20,890 people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer. More than 12,700 are expected to lose their lives to the disease. Often called the “silent killer,” ovarian cancer is difficult to detect early. With no reliable screening test and symptoms that are often mistaken for common conditions—such as bloating, pelvic pain, and urinary changes—approximately 80% of cases are diagnosed in advanced stages.

We wear teal to raise awareness, honor those affected by ovarian cancer—patients, survivors, and families – and advocate for increased funding for research and support services.

Ovarian cancer doesn’t always speak loudly—but awareness does. Teal is more than a color. It’s a symbol of solidarity, a spark for life-saving conversations, and a call to action.

As kids head back to school, healthy routines make all the difference — not just for students, but for the whole family. From quick breakfast to balanced lunches and after school snacks, now is the time to reset and refocus on nutrition.

Whether you're packing lunches, planning dinners, or just trying to get your family back on track, dietitians are here to help build habits that last all year.
Registered Dietitian, Jan Beyer, has been guiding patients for more than 10 years and reminds us why food is so powerful in our lives:

"I came to realize that food is central to everyone's like. We all need to eat to survive. Today, food influences us more than ever. It's everywhere. No two patients are alike, yet this is a population where motivation runs deep and the desire for lasting change is strong. Success comes to those who let go of fear and decide 'today's the day'. A year from now, you'll wish you started today."

As we recognize World Breastfeeding Week, we're inspired by the many ways mothers find strength, confidence, and joy in their feeding journeys. For Caroline, the idea of breastfeeding once felt overwhelming — until she met the exceptional team at A Mothers Place, part of TriStar Centennial Women's Hospital.

"Before my daughter was born, I found the idea of breastfeeding incredibly intimidating. However, during my hospital stay after her birth, I was introduced to the exceptional team at A Mother's Place Lactation. What had felt overwhelming, quickly transformed into a sense of fascination and excitement for the journey ahead," said Caroline. "After 5 months, I was proud to be able to donate 290 ounces of breastmilk to TriStar Centennial — above and beyond what I needed to nourish my own baby. That donation remains one of my proudest accomplishments as a new mother, and it's something I could not have achieved without the unwavering support of A Mother's Place Lactation."

A Mothers Place offers several services once your baby arrives, including:
• In-hospital consultation
• Back-to-Work counseling
• Bra fittings
• Breastfeeding support devices
• Breast pump rentals and sales

A Mother's Place is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. You can reach our team by calling the Breastfeeding Helpline at (615) 342-5650.

This week, as we celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, we're reminded that every feeding journey is unique — and that sometimes it takes a little extra support to get there. For one new mom, the road to exclusively breastfeeding wasn't easy. Pain and frustration were beginning to shadow Melanie's goal, until she found guidance and encouragement with our lactation consultants inside A Mothers Place.

With the help of our compassionate team, she received personalized guidance, hands-on support, and the reassurance she needed to keep going.

"With a few of her simple suggestions, he completely changed while breastfeeding and we have been able to completely cut out bottles and pumping! I am so grateful for the attention to detail and empathy the women at A Women’s Place had for me and my baby. I would recommend them to anyone!" said Melanie.

Inside A Mother's Place you'll find certified lactation consultants available for education and support during and after your stay. You have access to breastfeeding classes, consultations, professional nursing bra fittings, information on breast pumps and other services to make breastfeeding more comfortable and successful.

We're proud to stand alongside moms and families every step of the way — from those first feeds to finding a rhythm that works for both baby and parent.

At TriStar Centennial Medical Center, we believe excellent people make excellence happen. In recognition of World Breastfeeding Week, we’re proud to highlight the vital role our lactation team plays in supporting families through every stage of their breastfeeding journey.

From the moment of delivery, our registered nurses—who are also International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs)—provide daily, active support to help parents feel confident and empowered. Whether it’s latching assistance, personalized feeding plans, or access to pasteurized donor human milk (PDHM), we’re here to meet each family’s unique needs—including those in our NICU.

Breastfeeding support doesn’t stop when our patients go home. Our outpatient clinic, A Mother’s Place, offers one-on-one consultations with IBCLCs, while virtual classes and phone support help families stay informed and empowered long after leaving our hospital.

Breastfeeding is natural—but it’s also a skill. With the right support, every family can find their rhythm.

Meet Alexander & Alina!
Weeks away from her due date, these twins were born via C-section, and their journey into the world is one their parents will never forget.

Their mom made the decision to travel from Clarksville to deliver here, placing her trust in us during one of the most emotional and uncertain moments of her life. What she found was not just medical care — but a team that wrapped her in support, calm, and compassion.

"I've felt so care for and catered to and really like a family member." she said. "I am so glad that we came here from Clarksville to bring our babies into the world. Thank you to everyone who was involved in my care. TriStar Centennial has made the scariest day of my life into a beautiful memory."

From labor and delivery to NICU care, our team is here to support families through every step of their journey — with compassion, clinical excellence, and the kind of care that feels like family.

Did you know our Level III NICU provides specialized care for critically ill or premature babies born before 32 weeks. Using advanced monitoring and diagnostic tools, we create a healing, low-stimulation environment to support their development and help them safely go home.

Thank you for trusting us with your most precious moments.
