When Keara was diagnosed with leukemia, her journey quickly became filled with treatment and uncertainty. But in the midst of it all, a beautiful moment unfolded — just before surgery, Liam asked her to marry him.

Wanting to give them a chance to celebrate, our nurses stepped in to surprise the couple with an engagement celebration, surrounding them with family, compassion, and support during a difficult time.

When Greg was diagnosed with advanced laryngeal cancer, everything had to move fast — and it did.

At TriStar Centennial Medical Center, part of the HCA Healthcare's Sarah Cannon Cancer Network, Greg’s care team quickly stepped in with the expertise he needed. He shares that Dr. James Bekeny was honest, clear and gave him confidence every step of the way. Just days after his diagnosis, surgery successfully removed the cancer.

But that was only the beginning.

With the support of speech therapist Victoria and the team at Centennial Head & Neck Surgery, Greg began the journey of finding his voice again — a powerful reminder that healing goes beyond treatment alone.

Our head and neck cancer program takes a holistic approach to care, supporting not just the disease, but the whole person — recovery, communication and quality of life. By bringing together specialized cancer care, surgery and rehabilitation services, we’re here for every step of the journey.

Meet Helen 💛

She brings joy, sunshine, and an unstoppable warrior spirit everywhere she goes—even after being diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer in July 2024.

Last year, Helen became our first HAI Pump patient, receiving targeted treatment that delivers high doses of medication directly to the liver. She also recently underwent colon resection surgery with incredible strength.

Today, we’re beyond grateful to share that her scans show no evidence of cancer.

We’re also thankful to the Today Show for helping share her powerful story with the world. Stories like Helen’s remind us what resilience, hope, and courage truly look like.

Helen Demestihas thought she had a UTI or perimenopause. It was Stage 4 colorectal cancer that had spread to her liver. A new treatment saved her life.
