Your family story holds clues that affect your risk for . Start a conversation with the women in your life – mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmas, cousins – to uncover any history of breast cancer. If you’re gathering with loved ones for Thanksgiving or the holiday season, it may be the perfect time for a chat.

Ask questions like:
➡ Who in our family has been diagnosed?
➡ At what age did they receive their diagnosis?
➡ Did they have other cancers that are linked to breast cancer, like ovarian, cervical or endometrial cancer?

Once you’ve gathered your family health history, it’s time to talk to a genetic counselor. They’ll help you:
✅ Understand how genes such as BRCA1 and BRCA2 influence risk 🧬
✅ Navigate the ins and outs of genetic testing
✅ Receive personalized screening and prevention recommendations

Early knowledge is power. When you combine family insights with expert guidance, you take control of your health journey. Learn more about the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes and guidelines for genetic testing: https://bit.ly/3X4M0Is

"She helped me get settled in with snacks, linens, and informed me of the next steps to prepare for induction. Her attention to detail allowed her to notice and address my needs before even being asked."

Those words came from Danielle, who recently shared how Amanda's care transformed her delivery experience. From calm reassurance to critical thinking in high-pressure moments, Amanda's skill and compassion exemplify the excellence we strive for every day.

This is why we show up — to provide care that not only meets expectations but exceeds them when it matters most.

Dressed in capes and harnesses, they scaled the windows of TriStar Centennial Children's Hospital and brought a burst of color and excitement to our pediatric oncology and acute care floors.

From tiny waves through the glass to big smiles from parents and staff, these small moments of magic mean everything to the kids who spend days here — creating moments of comfort, courage, and connection whenever we can.

screening looks different at every age. Experts recommend that you start talking with your doctor about your personal risk of breast cancer as early as age 25. Depending on your family history or other factors, you may qualify for genetic counseling, earlier screening or both.

If you have a higher risk of breast cancer, screening may begin as early as age 30, or 10 years before the age a close relative was diagnosed. Because each person’s health needs are unique, it’s important to talk with your doctor about a personalized approach to screening.

Organizations that set medical screening guidelines now universally recommend starting mammogram screening at age 40 if you have an average risk of breast cancer. Across our broader HCA Healthcare network, caregivers perform approximately 1.5 million mammograms each year, helping patients take proactive steps toward early detection and better outcomes. If it’s time to schedule your next mammogram, you can call (615) 342-5018 or visit https://bit.ly/48VylKB.
