End-of-year fatigue for teachers is normal. Clinical burnout is a different problem.
Burnout becomes a mental health disorder when you have persistent insomnia or oversleeping, physical symptoms like headaches or stomach issues, emotional numbness or crying spells you can't control, detachment from students or colleagues, or thoughts about quitting teaching.
Vacation won't fix a clinical condition. Rest helps with fatigue. Burnout, anxiety, and depression need psychiatric treatment.
A 60-minute evaluation can help you understand what you're dealing with, get a proper diagnosis, and create a treatment plan. Sometimes medication is necessary to stabilize mood and sleep so you can actually recover over the summer.
I treat anxiety, depression, and burnout in adults. You don't have to push through alone.
