Last week marked our 7-year anniversary at NEW Counseling, and if we’ve learned anything, it’s this:
Healing is not a luxury. It’s a necessity. A right. A revolution.

Here are 7 things we know for sure after seven powerful, stretching, sacred years in this work:
1️⃣ Trauma doesn’t define you—but it will demand your attention.
2️⃣ Representation *always* matters.
3️⃣ Healing doesn’t mean you never hurt again. It means you’re no longer ruled by the wound.
4️⃣ Black women need space to be soft too.
5️⃣ Therapy works. So does rest.
6️⃣ Systems change when people do.
7️⃣ We were made for this.

It’s quite unbelievable to think it’s been 3 years since Nashville Emotional Wellness Counseling, PLLC was selected for the RISE grant. It was a time where my mind had yet stretched to imagine business beyond the revenue we generated or the ears we whispered in one by one…

…then in walks Comcast. Infusing not just the opportunity for NEW to be broadcasted over multiple of their television networks for almost half a year via the development of a commercial but also a curiosity, a faith, an insight about the future of a business started simply to take care of my children that now is postured to be a force in expanding the normalization and accessibility of therapy in the world.

Our motto is real people, healing real people with real problems and that’s exactly what Comcast did for NEW. With limited exposure and access to resources or a platform, the distance our name went in informing the world about the mental health counseling support we provide was limited. Comcast changed all of that when it awarded NEW the grant.

So help me get the word out! It’s and our partner, Comcast RISE is here to support Nashville small biz owners.
