These clients are standing tall, taking steps, and moving their bodies in ways that often aren't possible in a traditional rehab setting.

That's what activity-based recovery looks like at in Central Florida, where the Rise&Walk has officially joined their training program!

For individuals living with spinal cord injuries, stroke, TBIs, MS, Parkinson's, and other neurological conditions, the Rise&Walk opens the door to high-intensity, high-repetition training with up to 2,500 steps per session, in a safe and supported environment. It's movement that builds strength, confidence, and the kind of progress that translates directly into life outside the clinic.

We're proud to partner with CORE and incredibly inspired by the clients showing up and doing the work.

Stroke recovery has long been described in time-bound terms – a window, a critical period, a plateau. But recent research is reshaping that picture in ways that have real implications for how we deliver therapy.

The brain remains capable of meaningful adaptation well beyond the early months after stroke, including in patients once considered to have plateaued. What it needs is consistent, meaningful input: repetition, intensity, and task-specific practice at a dose high enough to drive change.

The challenge for most clinicians isn't knowing this, it's delivering it. Research protocols that produce measurable neuroplastic change typically call for 1,500 to 3,000 stepping repetitions per session at high cardiovascular intensity. The average therapy session today delivers a fraction of that.

Our newest blog explores the science behind neuroplasticity in stroke recovery, why repetition is the lever that turns potential into outcomes, and how activity-based therapy and high-repetition tools are helping clinicians close the gap between research and everyday practice.

Recovery doesn't happen all at once, it happens one step at a time. Now, patients across California have a new way to take more of them.

We're proud to share that the Rise&Walk is officially in use at four rehabilitation hospitals across the state of California:
• Stockton Regional Rehabilitation Hospital
• Sacramento Rehabilitation Hospital
• Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern California (Rancho Mirage)
• Central California Rehabilitation Hospital (Bakersfield)

For patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and other complex neurological conditions, this means broader local access to high-intensity, high-repetition therapy, up to 2,500 steps per session, delivered safely and tailored to each patient's progress.

This is what expanding access really looks like – not just new technology in new places, but new opportunities for patients to recover closer to home, supported by teams who never stop pushing what's possible.

Kudos to the clinical teams at all four hospitals for putting this technology to work for their patients every day!

We're excited to announce our partnership with Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital, bringing the Rise&Walk® InClinic to patients across northern Idaho!

What a way to kick things off - the NIACH team incorporated the Rise&Walk right into their 2026 Therapy Olympics, a facility-wide celebration of perseverance, teamwork, and personal bests. Watching patients work toward their own mobility milestones alongside their care teams was exactly the spirit of the event, and a powerful preview of what this partnership will mean for their patients going forward.

NIACH serves individuals with some of the most complex medical needs, navigating neurological, cardiopulmonary, and musculoskeletal challenges on long roads to recovery. As their team put it, the Rise&Walk helps patients "take meaningful steps, literally and figuratively, toward reclaiming their independence."

We're honored to be part of that journey.

For decades, traditional rehabilitation has centered on muscle compensation, helping patients adapt to their deficits and function within their current abilities. Although it's valuable, for patients with neurological injuries, it often stops short of what's truly possible.

Activity-based therapy changes that conversation. By using high-intensity, high-repetition, task-specific movement, ABT engages the nervous system's capacity for change, driving meaningful recovery at the neurological level,

Swipe through our April blog breakdown to see how the two compare and why ABT is opening new doors for neuro patients.

What kind of difference can a single supported walking session make in a patient’s recovery?

After her stroke, Eunice traveled 300 miles to Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Arizona with one goal in mind: to walk out of the hospital independently.

During a supported walking session on the Rise&Walk®, her therapy team guided high-intensity, task-specific gait training to help her practice stepping with greater confidence and consistency.

Her 10 Meter Walk Test time improved from 44 seconds before the session to 25 seconds afterward. A nearly 20-second difference following a single session!

At the end of the video, you can hear her say, “I’m doing it!”

We are continually encouraged to see clinicians finding ways to support meaningful functional progress for individuals recovering from stroke like Eunice.

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and World Parkinson’s Day coming up this Saturday.

We’re proud to see the team at Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation Hospital continuing to find creative ways to support individuals living with Parkinson’s.

When Donal had his first session on the Rise&Walk®, his therapist incorporated LSVT techniques within the balance support mode to guide high-intensity, task-specific practice. During his session, he completed 835 steps across forward and lateral stepping, standing balance work, and structured warm-up activities.

His Timed Up and Go improved from 1:35 to 0:30 following the session, and this notable change reflects the value of individualized, high-intensity practice!

When asked how it felt, he smiled and said, “I like it. I would do it again.”

We’re grateful to work alongside clinicians who continue to explore new ways to support neurological recovery.
