“Boundaries Are a Form of Self-Love”
Caption:

Boundaries aren’t walls, they’re bridges to better relationships.

💬 “I need space”
💬 “I’m not available right now”
💬 “That doesn’t work for me”

Saying these things isn’t selfish, it’s necessary.

Boundaries protect your time, energy, and peace.

Your worth is not tied to your productivity.

Take a moment and ask yourself:

💭 Who am I when I’m not taking care of everyone else?
💭 What do I enjoy when no one’s watching?
💭 What feels like me?

Rediscovering your identity is a healing journey — and therapy can help guide the way.

“What Does Belonging Feel Like to You?”

Let’s talk about belonging 💬

True belonging isn’t about fitting in — it’s about feeling safe, seen, and supported as your authentic self.

✨ What does belonging look or feel like for you?

“You Don’t Have to Earn Rest”

Rest is not a reward.
Rest is a right.

You are allowed to slow down, reset, and recharge — without guilt.

Especially as a woman of color, burnout is often romanticized.

Let’s normalize rest as resistance and healing. 🌿

You Deserve Joy That Isn’t Measured by Productivity”
Caption:
Joy is your birthright — not a reward for doing more.
🛑 Rest is productive.
🧘🏽 Pleasure is powerful.
❤️ You can feel good without earning it.
You don’t have to wait until you’ve ‘healed enough’ to enjoy your life.

“Joy is also a form of resistance.”

As a therapist and a woman, I remind myself and my clients that rest, joy, and laughter are just as powerful as any to-do list.

💛 Joy is healing. Joy is a form of resistance. Joy is your right.

It’s okay to laugh loud. Take up space. Play with your kids. Be silly. You’re allowed to feel good, too.

We were all finally able to come together!! It is amazing how you can work together as a team and hardly see each other! The Harmonious Living team enjoyed a good lunch, good conversation, was able to discuss ways to better serve our clients and sneak in some laughter here and there.

Thank you Raline, Mary Ann and Adrian for just being awesome clinicians and making this team great!

If you, or someone you know, is in need of mental health services or could benefit from mental health support (to include: couples and premarital counseling, adolescent, trauma, depression, grief, chronic stress, anxiety and just general support with challenging decisions that need to be made) then send them to this page for more information. I’m pretty full currently but there are a few slots available on my team.

We get really busy late fall with referrals for adolescents because of school issues. I recommend staying ahead of those issues as sometimes problems have compounded when not addressed timely or preventatively. If you anticipate challenges or just want to build in support in advance - go ahead and give us a call.

Thanks!

Today is the day I became a mom and this is the very sweet, kind, thoughtful and smart young lady who made it happen. I honestly could not ask for a better daughter. She has made me so much better as a person and is one of the reasons I work as hard as I do - to make sure her future is bright and so she has all the things she deserves in life. It’s been amazing to watch her over the years grow into the young woman she has become. I cannot believe she’s 17 - but she is😩😩😩. Very happy birthday Chloe! We love you very much! 🎁🎂🎈

The Harmonious Living team welcomes Mary Ann Hea to the practice. She will be seeing clients in office and has a range of clinical experience. We are excited to have her on the team. 😊

Born in Germany into a military family, Mary Ann Hea graduated from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Psychology and English Literature. She was a newspaper journalist and college professor until returning to school later in life to receive a Masters in Social Work at the University of Tennessee College of Social work. Ms. Hea has been licensed to practice for over 30 years.

The majority of Ms. Hea’s career was spent at the Metropolitan Public Defender’s office where she was employed as a sentencing consultant, mitigation specialist, therapist and grant writer. She is the founder of the Davidson County Mental Health Court (5th in the nation) and several other grant programs created to boost criminal justice reform in Nashville. Ms. Hea was also the co-founder of the trauma non-profit The Institute of Forensic Traumatology.

Ms. Hea believes that life’s best teachers are gleaned from the world we live in, including from the tender lives of our clients. She employs a “be here now” approach to therapy, often utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy as a means to retrain old behaviors that are no longer serving the person adequately in their daily lives. Ms. Hea takes an eclectic approach to therapy as no two people are alike. As a researcher, Ms. Hea has been employed by Civil Rights Corps, based in Washington D.C. She is knowledgeable about Nashville resources.

While she enjoys working with individuals who have had run-ins with the law, she also enjoys working with s*x abuse survivors, depressive disordered individuals and grieving families. Ms. Hea employs humor in her work, something she believes to be a key to recovery.

It’s that time again. Although we work to raise awareness all year; May is officially Mental Health Awareness Month! Use this time to be particularly diligent toward raising awareness and actively engaging activities that raise awareness. The team will be participating in on Saturday, May 18th, 2024. We would love for you to join us! But if you cannot; feel free to donate and support a great cause. NAMI provides advocacy and education, support and public awareness so that those affected by mental illness can live better lives. The NAMI walk is just one of several activities and events taking place throughout the month. So there will be plenty of ways for you to help raise awareness and I will be sure to share as much of it as possible!
