James "Jim" Atkeison

James Carl Atkeison, of Franklin, passed away surrounded by the love of his family after a life defined by faith, dedication, entrepreneurship, and quiet generosity. He was 73 years old.

Born on August 25, 1952, in Louisville, Jim was the son of Reverend Henry Conn Atkeison and Bobbye Anne Hagan Atkeison. After a brief period living in Sheffield, Alabama, the Atkeison family settled in Brentwood, Tennessee, where Jim spent much of his youth, forming lifelong roots in Middle Tennessee.

Jim graduated from John Overton High School in 1970 before continuing his education at Middle Tennessee State University, where he earned both his undergraduate degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

In 1976, while working at Baptist Hospital, Jim met the love of his life, Joan. Their partnership became the foundation of nearly five decades of marriage, family, and business. In 1981, they welcomed their only child, Johnathan.

Together in the early 1980s, Jim and Joan founded Association Management Services and Investment Property Services, building the company through years of hard work, integrity, and personal relationships. Jim remained at the helm of the business until his retirement, earning the respect of colleagues and clients throughout the region.

Jim was also a pioneer within the community association management profession in Tennessee. He played an instrumental role in founding the Tennessee chapter of the Community Associations Institute and served as its president in 1988. In recognition of their decades of service and leadership, both Jim and Joan were honored with the organization’s first Lifetime Achievement Awards.

A man of enduring faith, Jim was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church and later Dickson First Baptist Church. He carried himself with humility, steadiness, and a deep sense of responsibility to both his family and community.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Henry Conn Atkeison, Jr., and his mother, Bobbye Anne Atkeison.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan Atkeison; his son, Johnathan Atkeison and his wife Meredith Fine; and his beloved grandchildren, William Atkeison and Madeline Atkeison, and first cousin Dan McNamara.

His family will remember him as a faithful husband, a loving father and grandfather, a thoughtful businessman, and a man whose life reflected quiet strength, loyalty, and enduring care for those around him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow.

Bill was proud to be a native Nashvillian. He graduated from Battle Ground Academy, receiving the most outstanding student honor and was President of his high school fraternity. He earned a Civil Engineering degree in 1960 from Vanderbilt University, while in the NROTC. After graduation, he served in the Navy for two years in Washington, D.C., retiring as a Lieutenant. Bill and Merilyn moved to the family farm where he was never happier than driving his John Deere tractor bush hogging 40+ acres. He loved every single acre of the 480 acres and had 31 glorious years there. He loved living in Pegram and served many years as Vice Mayor.

His love of hunting lasted throughout his life, serving as President of Buffalo River Hunting Club for many years, enjoying the company of friends and his beloved dogs.

Bill was devoted to his wife and sons, and his grandchildren, Will and Sarah, who brought him such pleasure…he was so proud of them. He was fortunate to have many close friends. His was a life rich in character, love and loyalty. He had many health challenges, but faced them with grace and tenacity. A man of immense integrity, he leaves an example for all who knew him.

Robert James "Jim" Schneider

Robert James “Jim” Schneider, 80, passed away on April 27, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. Jim was born on June 28, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio.

To know Jim was to know a steady, loyal presence - someone who loved his family and friends deeply and showed it in quiet, everyday ways. He worked in a factory until he suffered a massive stroke in 1989. From that point on, Jim kept pushing forward with determination, becoming an inspiration to many who watched him meet each challenge head-on. He faced life’s obstacles with an upbeat spirit and a strong belief that he could do anything, even with limitations. He never met a stranger and could light up a room—often being the life of the party.

Jim is survived by his former wife and cherished companion, Lynn Beets; his children, Kim Coots and Matt Schneider; his grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Koogle, Ashley (Scott) Phelps, and Ashleigh Hooper; his great-grandchildren, Maddison Koogle, Caden Price, and Khloe Price; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Vera Schneider; and his siblings, Bud Schneider, Norb Schneider, Donna Tangeman, and Susie Gray.

Visitation will be held on June 27, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Church, 535 Sneed Road W., Franklin, TN 37069, with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Kim Coots’ home (address will be shared with family and friends).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Stroke Association in Jim’s memory.

Thomas "Tom" Spaulding

The Nashville music community had no greater advocate than Tom Spaulding. The first time a young Tom picked up his brother’s guitar, he set out on a life path that would serve him the rest of his days.

Tom was born in Mauston, Wisconsin in 1961. From his earliest years, he displayed a love of learning and an aptitude for music. He played guitar in local bands and spent a decade working/teaching at Ward-Brodt Music. In 1995, he relocated to Nashville to work for Gibson Guitars. He played professionally for several artists including The Lynns before transitioning to a dozen-year career as a guitar technician. Tom toured the globe with Aerosmith, John Fogerty, Hall & Oates, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, LeeAnn Rimes, Wynonna, and others. He was a great tech because he was a great player.

Tom was co-owner of Smash Recording, where he met his wife and soulmate of 20 years, Donna Beasley. For 12 years Tom was a fixture at Soundcheck as the Nashville Artist Relations Representative for D’Addario & Co., and later for Fishman Transducers.

Tom was co-founder of the instructional streaming service Modern Music Masters, launched in 2016. It features some of the greatest musicians to ever play their instruments. One of Tom’s greatest joys was to marry teacher with student and watch them carve their own paths, with a special love for pedal steel guitar.

Over the years, Tom enjoyed playing the stages of Nashville with his wife and friends. Tom worked for Guitar Center from home for a brief stint. At the time of his death he was excited about his newest chapter with Musical Instrument Supply Consultants.

How did Tom help you? Maybe he gave you gear or advice. He probably shared his deep knowledge of music, guitars, bourbon, fishing, history, et cetera. Perhaps you shared a laugh, a good tune, or a game of cribbage. Did you talk about the Packers? Did he feed you cheese, a bowl of his chili, a hot beef sandwich? I bet you found him to be a good hang in the back lounge of a tour bus in name-the-city. Maybe he took care of you while you were on stage, before and after a show. He might’ve helped you find a gig. You used Tom as a sounding board that left you pumped and better prepared. Whenever you went to see Tom, you left with more than you came in with. He made sure of it.

I don’t think Tom knew how brightly his light shined or how lost those of us who loved him will be in its absence. “To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” What a successful life you lived, Tom, and how dim the lights of “old Nashville” seem without you.

Thomas Gerard Spaulding passed away at his home on May 8, 2026 at the age of 64. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Donna Beasley Spaulding; his cherished siblings, John (Diane) Spaulding of McFarland, WI; Maureen (Michael) Buttner of Mauston, WI; and Sandy (Richard) Cowan of Stoughton, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) and Elizabeth (Betty) Spaulding of Mauston, WI and his sister, Ellen (Conlee) Cox of DeForest, WI. Tom was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, including Ryan (Rebekah) Spaulding (WI), Colin (Angela) Spaulding (WI), Joshua (Greg) Garrison (TX), Matthew (Erin) Buttner (VA), Meghan (Brian) Stewart (WI), Erin (Ben) Miller (WI), Damian (Andrea) Cox (WI), David (Kim) Cox (WI), Danielle (Shane) Haag (MN), Riley (Hannah) Cowan (WI), Kelly (Beau) Cornell (WI), Jennifer Brock (TN), and Justin (Rachel) Beasley (TN). Other cherished family includes sister-in-law Debbie Beasley (TN), cousins Becky Jenkins and Ann Large (TN). Tom will be missed by all.

A special mention of thanks to Tom and Donna’s chosen family, Bob and Etta Britt.

A celebration of life in TN is planned for Sunday, May 24, 2026, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Eastside Bowl 1508A Gallatin Pike S Madison, TN 37115.

A celebration of life in WI is planned for Sunday, June 28, 2026, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at The Lodge at Mauston 104 Lodge Lane Mauston, WI 53948.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Cheatham County Animal Control (Pegram, TN) in Tom Spaulding’s name. He would love that.
