San Lazaro Coffee

San Lazaro Coffee www.sanlazarocoffee.com It is certainly helping, but the fact of the matter is, it is not yet enough.

Did you know?

-Many coffee farmers are forced to sell their crops to middlemen at less than the cost of production, forcing them into debt and a cycle of poverty.

-Fair Trade coffee alone may not be an adequate solution.

-From our experience and many others, the fair trade wage is simply not enough to put children through school, to provide enough food for families, or to provide farmers with a

reasonable quality of life. The San Lazaro Commitment:
-To pay employees 25% more than local fair wages and provide specialty medical care.

-To treat our employees with dignity, respect, and love through personal relationships to ensure that each individual is given the opportunity to thrive, not merely survive.

-To use 100% of our profits to support the Mission Lazarus Refuge children’s home.

-To use organic methods to produce our coffee

-To cut out the middle-man and act as a single sourced-coffee to guarantee fair wages for our employees.

-To bring you a cup of coffee that has consistently scored as a “specialty coffee.”

If you want to learn about coffee, visit our farm in Honduras! Our farm manager, Cinthia, can tell you all about the processes and phases that the coffee cherries go through on their way to your cup.

This photo is from a church group's recent mission trip where they enjoyed chatting with Cinthia and seeing and smelling the different types of beans!

Thank you to everyone who prayed for our coffee manager, Cinthia, as she traveled last week to speak at the First International Gathering of Women in Coffee in Pitalito, southern Colombia. The conference brought together women leaders from Colombia, Mexico, Honduras, Peru, Guatemala, and Canada to advance a more just, equitable, and sustainable coffee industry.

Cinthia represented our community as a guest speaker and panelist at this international event focused on the transformative power of coffee when she delivered a powerful talk entitled "From the Farm to the World: Connecting Women Coffee Producers with Markets that Value Their Story, Their Coffee, and Their Dignity."

She also participated in a featured panel: "4 Women, 4 Countries, 4 Stories, One Vision" — alongside fellow coffee leaders representing Mexico, Canada, Honduras, and Colombia.

The gathering created a great space for knowledge exchange, storytelling, and global collaboration, uniting women who are reshaping the coffee industry from the ground up. The program featured academic discussions, cultural events, and a marketplace showcasing women-led coffee and artisan enterprises.

We know that coffee is more than a product — it is a path to dignity, leadership, and transformation. Thank you to everyone who buys our coffee! You can too! Purchase a bag or two today at sanlazarocoffee.com.

Summer is a busy season on the coffee farm as we welcome church and corporate groups from the U.S. who visit to serve and help our team with projects. Recently a group from Mayfair Church of Christ helped the team apply organic fertilizer to the coffee plants.

Thank you for serving! 🫶
