During National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we bring awareness to the connection between sexual assault and addiction. Evidence shows that survivors of sexual assault may turn to alcohol or drugs to cope with the trauma, perpetuating a cycle of pain and addiction. Sexual violence inflicts lasting emotional scars, and substances may seem like a way to numb that pain. For resources, visit https://tncoalition.org/get-help/help-in-your-area/ for help.
