MICTAN First Response Center

MICTAN First Response Center Metropolitan Interdenominational Church founded the First Response Center in 1993 to address HIV prevention from a radical faith-based inclusive perspective.

For over the last 30 years, the Metropolitan Interdenominational Church Technical Assistance Network (MICTAN) has been committed to both serving persons newly infected with HIV/AIDS and to serving those faith leaders who are in need of the tools to address the issue of HIV/AIDS in their churches. When the AIDS epidemic emerged in the early 80s, there were only two entities, the Balm in Gilead and

MICTAN, that sought to proactively to address the disease from a faith-based perspective for communities of color. And, from their commitment of “WHOSOEVER” John 3:16, MICTAN founded in 1993 the First Response Center. The First Response Center does not wait for someone else to address the issue of HIV/AIDS and sexuality within the African-American faith community. They respond, “First,” to “WHOSOEVER” that enters the door for services, tools, and help.
