We'll have one class on Tuesday, Jan 27!

🔥12 pm power flow with Karen🔥

Our front parking lot is mostly clear, but there are of course still some icy patches close to the building in the shade, so be careful if you join us. We'd recommend avoiding parking in the back or side of the building, as that has not been plowed yet.

Wedgewood, Edgehill, and 12th Ave have been cleared.

Stay safe and warm, and see you at noon!

Fourteen people are embarking on their yoga teacher training journey with us this winter. They've completed their first weekend of seven and have already started practice teaching Sun As and Bs and immersing themselves in inquiry work, meditation, and flowing as a group.

We are honored to be able to witness these transformations and we can't wait to share their accomplishments in the weeks ahead!

Calling all certified yoga teachers! We have a workshop coming up:

Teaching Yoga for Adults with Disabilities
Monday, February 2
6-7 pm
SWY Community Studio
Free for active SWY teachers
$35 for external teachers

This yoga teacher workshop led by Hannah June will teach you how to work with folks with special needs and disabilities, the dos and don'ts of adaptation and assistance, and specifics on how to adapt your classes and teaching style in order to accommodate those with special needs.

Over the course of the hour, we will learn strategies and tips from an occupational therapist, practice with real-time examples, and have a group discussion and question/answer session.

About Hannah June:
Hannah June is the founder and occupational therapist at Get OuTside Therapy Services. She has been working with folks with special needs and disabilities since 2009, and she has been a practicing OT since 2017. As an occupational therapist, Hannah specializes in adapting environments to meet the needs of an individual, and she has a great passion for helping others in the Nashville community make their spaces more accessible and welcoming for people with special needs and disabilities. Hannah's private practice, Get OuTside Therapy Services, is a non-traditional OT practice that empowers individuals with special needs and disabilities to become more independent and confident while using nature and the outdoors as the therapy space.

Welcome to the Small World Yoga community studio!

If it's your first time here, grab a sweat towel—you're gonna need it! We have blocks along the wall, and you can leave your things in the cubbies. Restrooms and water fountain are around the corner, and we'll be in Studio A. Roll out your mat, make a new friend, and we'll get started shortly!

Some tips:

👕Wear comfy clothes. We recommend comfortable, athletic clothing you can move and sweat in. We also recommend bare feet during class so you have better traction and stability (socks get hot and slippery!).

🥤Bring supplies. We suggest a water bottle, a yoga mat, and maybe a towel. We have full-length mat towels for rent as well as complimentary hand towels. We also have mats for rent if you forget yours or don’t have one.

⏰Arrive early. Get to the studio ten to fifteen minutes early so you have time to sign up if you didn’t already, have a quick tour of the place, and get settled.

🚙Find a parking spot. We have five reserved parking spots right outside, so snag one of those if you can. If not, there are unlabeled spots in the lot, and you can even park in any spot labeled for Operation Stand Down or CreatiVets after 5pm. There’s also free street parking on 13th behind the studio.

🔥Expect heat. We heat our Studio A room to about 95° and use humidifiers. You will sweat! The heat elevates your practice and gives your heart, lungs, and muscles a more beneficial workout.

🧘Introduce yourself to your fellow students. We’re a community-oriented space, and our students love meeting new people and making connections.

We hope to flow with you soon!

Our community is the best 🤩

Whether we're flowing together at the studio or out in the community or connecting at special events like this one with Baron Baptiste, we always love coming together under a shared mission, seeing familiar faces and making new friends.

Come get on your mat with us! We'd love to have you!

The most accessible yoga in town ✨

The Small World Yoga Community Studio is Nashville’s first and only nonprofit donation-based yoga studio. When you pay for a class here, you directly support our mission to increase access to yoga. You are helping us get free yoga at community centers, prisons, schools, recovery centers, homeless shelters, libraries, and more.

All classes have a $10 suggested minimum donation, with the option to donate more if you are able. You’re getting a full boutique studio experience at a fraction of the cost of a drop-in at other studios, and your money goes to a worthy cause.

The majority of our studio classes are heated power flow classes. The schedule also includes non-heated deep rest (restorative) classes. Every class is open to all levels of students, ranging from beginner to more advanced practitioners.

Get on your mat with us this January!
