We at Tennessee Oncology believe one of our most powerful tools against cervical cancer is knowledge: understanding risk factors, recognizing the importance of screening, and knowing when to seek care.

Cervical cancer is treatable when caught early, and Dr. Michael Stany - a gynecologic oncologist here at Tennessee Oncology - shares a few tips to know when it's time for you to seek care. At the end of the day, you know your body best. If something doesn’t feel right, talk to your doctor about what options are available for you.

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to education, prevention, and early detection of the disease.

Dr. Kate Baker, Dr. Edward R. Arrowsmith, Dr. Katy Beckermann, Dr. Samyukta Mullangi, and Joey Hollenbeck contributed to a dynamic discussion that explored how collaboration across providers, payers, innovators, and other stakeholders is essential to advancing value-based models and meaningfully improving care delivery and outcomes for patients with cancer.

Dr. Kimsey is a radiation oncologist and joins the Tennessee Oncology family serving patients in Chattanooga's Erlanger Radiation Oncology Center. He earned his degree in biology and psychology from Emory University in Atlanta before going on to medical school at the University of Florida's Shands Cancer Center, receiving his American Board of Radiology certificate shortly thereafter. Founded in 1976 by Dr. Stuart Spigel, we've grown into the largest cancer care provider in Tennessee, caring for nearly half of the state’s cancer patients. While our footprint has expanded dramatically, our commitment has not wavered. We remain steadfast in our promise to bring world-class cancer care and clinical trials into the communities where our patients live, work, and raise their families.

A new month and a new year marks a one-year milestone for Tennessee Oncology and The Surgical Clinic! 🎉

As we close out our 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗜𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄, we're excited to look back at January 2025 when The Surgical Clinic and its wealth of expertise in advanced, patient-centered surgical care joined the Tennessee Oncology family to operate as its surgical division.

Today, it is home to 42 skilled surgeons, 15 advanced practice providers, and more than 200 dedicated team members at 17 locations, satellite clinics and office-based labs. As we progress into 2026 and beyond, we’re excited for the continued collaboration to broaden our comprehensive care offerings across Tennessee, North Georgia, and the Southeast.
