“We have to do better for our young women and adults.” -Alaina Stochaj-Oman, WHNP-BC 💓

Feeling unheard during an appointment years ago inspired Alaina Stochaj-Oman to dedicate her career to supporting women's health.

Now a women's health provider at Ascension Saint Thomas, she rotates between the Nashville, Franklin, and Lenox Village clinics, caring for women from every background. “Whether you grew up in Franklin or just moved here from Vietnam, I’m happy to care for you,” she says.

Her best advice: “If being intimate is painful, let's talk. And for my newly pregnant patients: be excited until there’s a reason not to be.”

Outside the clinic, Alaina builds LEGOs, plays piano, travels with her husband, Dillon, and dotes on her three cats — Mama, Frank, and Lu — and her dog, Prada. She also treasures Sunday dinners with her family — Erica, Marc, and Seth — who are a huge source of support.

Fun fact: she was a cheerleader at the University of Pennsylvania and can still bust out a routine 📣

"I know the GYN can be a scary place — my goal is to make it as stress-free as possible.” - Sarah Hatcher, NP- Gynecology

A not-so-great first GYN appointment inspired Sarah Hatcher, NP, to become a nurse practitioner and change the experience for her patients. “If I’m ever in the position to care for women, I’m going to handle that interaction differently,” she says. “I do my best to make every woman feel comfortable before we even begin an exam.”

At Ascension Saint Thomas, she loves caring for women of all ages and stages. “Our patients come from so many different countries, backgrounds, and experiences. I love learning about their lives, not just for medical purposes,” she says.

Her best advice? “Don’t fall for the marketing hype. There are very few things you need from the feminine hygiene aisle — and feminine wash is NOT one of them. Using those can actually cause infections and lead to more visits to your GYN.”

Outside of work, she loves reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She’s also a huge fan of fall and college football — Roll Tide!

Fun fact: She’s a former college cheerleader who’s torn both ACLs while tumbling. And if you want to talk TV, she’s your person — she’s watched Friends from start to finish at least seven times and still cries at the finale.
