"Addiction is so complex… There’s just so much more to it than just ‘stop using drugs.’" said Ashley Potts, LCSW, Vice President of Operations in Delaware at Wayspring.

That truth guides every conversation we have, every doorstep we show up on, and every relationship we build.

Behavioral Health Business took a closer look at what’s unfolding through our collaboration with Highmark Health Options. It’s a model built on showing up, earning trust, and helping those who face the steepest barrier to care.

Meet Triton Smith, an Engagement Specialist at Wayspring. Read as he explains what inspired him to help individuals with substance use disorders in Kentucky. ⬇️

“I’m from Eastern Kentucky, and the opioid epidemic completely ravaged my hometown and the surrounding areas. I knew I wanted to do something to help. After college, I realized how underrepresented those impacted by the epidemic really were. That’s what drew me to Wayspring.

I love working here. I love the people and the culture. And I love being able to help people. At first, I thought this job seemed too good to be true, but it isn’t. This is the real deal.”

Meet McKenna Fee, an Engagement Specialist at Wayspring. 👋

McKenna opens up about the motivation behind her work supporting members on their recovery journey and what fuels her passion every day: “Some people open up right away. Others are more guarded. But if you keep showing up, they notice. One member told me, ‘I wasn’t sure about Wayspring. It sounded too good to be true—having someone call me every week and check in.’ But we kept showing up. Eventually he said, ‘You really proved yourselves to me.’ That kind of trust means everything.”

Meet Jennifer Allensworth, one of our compassionate Engagement Specialists here at Wayspring. 👋

Jennifer shares what inspires her work supporting members on their recovery journey: “This isn’t just a job for me—it’s a passion. I laugh with them, I cry with them, and I give them the space to feel what they need to feel. I let them know this is a safe place to process their emotions so that next time, those feelings don’t lead to relapse or more trauma.”

We’re incredibly grateful to have Jennifer on our team. Her empathy and dedication shine through in everything she does, creating a safe and supportive environment for every member she helps.

A Clear, Connected Path

Connecting the substance use treatment and recovery ecosystem with an end-to-end platform that delivers personalized solutions—from risk to recovery.

Patients have difficulty navigating the fractured treatment ecosystem and often receive ineffective treatment or go untreated altogether. Providers are looking for new partners and a clinical support system to effectively manage the care and overall well-being of their patients. Health plans continue to invest in treatment that doesn’t work. Saddled with enormous healthcare costs of the opioid overdose epidemic, they are looking for more comprehensive solutions.

Leveraging a high-tech and high-touch approach, axialHealthcare’s risk-to-recovery platform addresses treatment gaps across the spectrum of substance use by connecting ecosystem stakeholders at every stage. Our comprehensive solution identifies patients at risk, prevents escalation in their condition, and supports appropriate treatment enrollment and adherence.
