Recovery isn’t just about attending a meeting once in a while.

Research shows that what makes the difference is consistency - showing up regularly, building a relationship with a sponsor, and being willing to participate when you’re ready.

In this clip, Dr. John Kelly shares what the data tells us about sustained recovery: it’s not perfection. It’s engagement over time.

Addiction doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and healing doesn’t either.

In episode, Dr. Kristy Soloski (LMFT, LCDC) explains systems theory in a way that just clicks: family is like a baby mobile — pull one piece, and the whole thing shakes.

That doesn’t mean addiction is caused by your family. It means recovery works best when we understand connection, patterns, and the roles we all fall into.

UPDATE: Due to the severe ice storm and resulting power outages, Cumberland Heights has temporarily relocated patients to an alternate facility to ensure their safety and comfort.

All patients remain under care of our clinical and support staff, and treatment services are continuing without interruption.

This is a precautionary, short-term measure. We are closely monitoring conditions and will return to normal operations as soon as it is safe to do so.

----------------------------------------------------
As winter weather impacts our area, we want to share a brief update and provide reassurance to families and loved ones of our patients.

Please know that all patients are safe, warm, and well taken care of. While a few of our campuses are experiencing power outages due to severe conditions, preparations were made in advance and dedicated staff remain on campus 24/7 to ensure continuity of care. The safety and well-being of our patients remain our highest priority.

For any questions, our admissions team is available at 866-312-4421.

What happens when a parent chooses recovery, too?

In this episode of Conversations with Cumberland Heights, we sit down with Marti Roveda—a parent coach, recovery advocate, and mom of an ARCH Academy alum—to talk about the journey no one prepares parents for. Marti shares what it was like to love her son through addiction, set life-saving boundaries, and learn that recovery is a parallel process for families. Today, her son celebrates over five years of sobriety—and Marti now helps other parents find peace, clarity, and support in the middle of the chaos.

January is Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month — a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind individuals and families that support and treatment are available. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has proclaimed January as a month to highlight the importance of accessible care for those affected by substance use disorder.

If you’re struggling, know that you are not alone. Help is available, and recovery is possible with the right support.

This year, Cumberland Heights enters an important new chapter—the beginning of our 60th year!

Since 1966, individuals and families have come to our campuses seeking hope, healing, and a path forward. What began with a simple, compassionate mission has grown into a nationally recognized addiction treatment program, serving adults, adolescents, and families.

As we step into our 60th year, we are honoring the people and moments that shaped our legacy while looking ahead to the future of recovery. This is just the beginning of a year-long reflection on where we’ve been—and where we’re going.
