Substance use is often only part of the story.

In this episode of Conversations with Cumberland Heights, Jason Silletto shares how counselors help clients uncover the deeper issues connected to addiction, including trauma, anxiety, adverse childhood experiences, and other co-occurring mental health challenges.

“People don’t always realize they’re coping with anxiety by drinking… or carrying trauma they’ve never processed.”

Jason offers an honest look at what happens in treatment, why stabilization matters, and how recovery begins when people finally have space to understand what’s underneath the substance use.

Yesterday was a memorable day at Cumberland Heights!

We celebrated the groundbreaking of our new Women’s Complex, marking the second phase of our Recovery in Community initiative. This thoughtfully designed, state-of-the-art space will expand our women’s residential program, offering comfortable accommodations. It will include dedicated treatment, group, and therapeutic spaces that foster connection, vulnerability, accountability, and healing.

We’re grateful for our staff, board, and executive team who came together to honor this meaningful milestone.
