Have you heard of RED-S?! I have found in meeting with clients and people in general most people haven’t heard this term.
Relative energy deficiency in sports or RED-S occurs when your energy intake aka caloric intake is not enough to support the energy output or demands of your activity and training. It can result in a lot of different symptoms, like the ones listed above! It is a serious condition and requires nutrition therapy and support to work through. If you or someone you know is experiencing a number of these symptoms it is worth reaching out to your doctor and to a registered dietitian who works with athletes and sports nutrition to get assessed! All of our dietitians have experiencing working with athletes and sports nutrition as well as eating disorders! Link is in our bio to reach out!

There are many different factors that contribute to the development of an eating disorder. I think most people assume it is a disorder of vanity and just to be "skinny" or lose weight etc. and that couldn't be farther from the truth. Things like abuse, trauma, relationships, bullying can all impact the development of an eating disorder.

If you want leftovers of dinner the night before for breakfast the next day, go for it. You can eat any and all foods at breakfast not just foods we deem as breakfast foods. While I personally LOVE all breakfast foods, I understand that some people might not and that is okay. You can eat what you enjoy and what actually sounds good. There are also so many different 'breakfast' foods from different cultures and parts of the world too! If you are finding yourself not wanting certain foods or nothing sounding good, maybe try thinking outside of the box or just foods you deem appropriate for that meal!

Something I think EVeRyONe needs a reminder on! It is NORMAL for kids to gain a fair amount of weight during and around puberty years! I hear from concerned parents far too often about something that is totally normal and appropriate! This is your reminder that females gain on average 40 lb. During these years and continue to gain even more weight as we approach 20 years old! Yes, we can body fat for sure because it’s crucial, but we’re also building muscle mass, bone density, organs are growing etc!
Keep this in mind if you’re a parent or even if you’re a teenager, it’s normal to gain weight and OKAY💕!
