This right here is a big part of why I’ve been banging on about Vitamin C lately🙂

A reminder for everybody: Vitamin C fuels our immune systems, supports healthy cholesterol, helps clear up our skin, keeps our liver healthy and the list goes on and on.

Dr. Tom Levy is back to drop more truths on the podcast, and he shared with us why, according to his decades of research, Vitamin C is absolutely essential for our cellular health. When our cells are healthy we have more energy, more vitality, and more pep-in-our step.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the skin reflects what’s happening deeper inside. Specifically? Your Lungs and Large Intestine.

Think of your skin like an overflow valve. When the inside is clogged, the outside starts showing the pressure.

And here’s something powerful: the location of your eczema tells a story.
Scalp flare-ups? Could point to bladder or gallbladder.
Back of the hands? Gallbladder or large intestine.

It’s not random. Your body is trying to help you see what’s stuck underneath.

Want to support your skin from the inside out? Start here:
💧 Hydrate with minerals
🥬 Cut refined sugars + dairy
🌿 Support the gut + lungs with targeted tools

💊 I often use things like “Leaky Gut” and “Itch” formulas from DesBio and organ-specific botanicals like Cat’s Claw or Astragalus to support these detox pathways.

Let your skin be a compass—not a curse.

Have you ever wished you could re-train your brain?

In chatting with Ben Ahrens from re-origin about neuroplasticity and how brain-retraining can help folks with chronic illnesses, I was struck by what he has to say about facing challenges. Can we re-set our nervous systems to the point where our brains are actually strengthened by our biggest stressors, rather than tormented by them? Brain research suggests it’s possible!

This episode is absolutely required for those who want to access holistic healing. Healing has as much to do with our minds as it does with our bodies. Why have an average breakfast when you can have an Epic Breakfast?

I had the pleasure of hosting Erin Power on the podcast for a conversation on metabolic health for women (and how, like so many other challenges, so much of this is about what’s going on in our brains and our emotional programming).

She explains why she loves to introduce women to the paradigm of the Epic Breakfast:

A) For your first meal of the day she encourages eating when you’re hungry, and eating till your full (without worrying about portion sizes). This keeps our bodies feeling fed and safe.

B) Making the Epic Breakfast a protein-dominant mean ensures you’re giving your body the fuel it needs for the rest of the day. Plus, as you may have heard, women tend to eat less protein than they need, so frontloading it at the start of the day is an efficient way to tick that box before your whole day gets away from you.

By the way, Erin is a holistic nutritionist and weight loss coach, and she has so many other insightful tips for healing your relationship with food, and how it starts with your mindset, on the Ancient Health Podcast. Head on over.

What’s one thing you’re grateful for?

Battling chronic illness, especially illnesses like Lyme that are so misunderstood, can take a lot out of your body, mind and spirit. Emotional healing is half the battle.

This was such a powerful part of our interview when Dr. Cornish, a functional medicine doctor who specializes in illnesses that can make people feel desperate, said “the healing journey starts with gratitude.”

I don’t know who needed to hear that but it’s true.

On this week’s Ancient Health Podcast, Dr. Eboni Cornish, from Amen Labs, shares a story I’ll never forget - a patient misdiagnosed with MS who was actually battling Lyme and co-infections that crossed the blood-brain barrier.

So many individuals walk around with movement disorders, neurological symptoms, and chronic fatigue… and they’re told “that’s just how it is.” But when you dig deeper, run the right labs, and look at the body through a whole-system lens, you start to see things that most of culture overlooks.

I think you can tell from this clip that it makes both of our hearts flutter to know that there is hope. There is treatment for these infections!

I wanted to give you all a glimpse into what Traditional Chinese Medicine looks like in regular, everyday practice. So, I asked Sara Jane Ho about her modern habits that are influenced by ancient Chinese wisdom. Here’s one: cold feet could lead to a cold womb (cramps and other reproductive issues), so Sara Jane keeps socks or slippers on at home.

This is being cozy for a purpose!

This is your reminder: Work on your stress now, find calm and peace now, work on your emotional health now, not one day.

Over on the Ancient Health Podcast, Frank Elaridi reminds us all that today, right now, is precious. So that means you have today, this present moment to slow down, to work on your stress, start a breathing exercise.

“I’ll do it one day” is not an excuse we have to live with! If you want more, check out Episode 448 of the Ancient Health Podcast: Tap the link in bio for links to the podcast, or comment YOUTUBE, APPLE or SPOTIFY (however you like your podcasts) and I’ll send you the link.
