Doesn’t matter if it’s a coach, professor, Sunday school teacher, family member or a combination of other roles. You don’t have to stick around for the wounding.

Know your worth and don’t let insecure bullying from another person change that. And if you’re a guy, when you see someone being disrespected, especially a woman, about it.

Women wouldn’t have to be so strong if they didn’t have to be…

“You have nothing to prove, only glory to give.”

Even most of my Athletes who aren’t super spiritual or who may be burned out (hurt) by religion, acknowledge that their talent came from something/Someone outside of and higher than themselves.

For my Christ following Athletes who are committed to being all-in, trusting the process and letting God handle the expectations and outcomes, performance becomes less and less about them and more and more about the God who created them with this competitive drive and unique ability. They’ve worked and trained hard to become the 2%. Now, the only job they have is to trust their training and give God the glory through it all.

You’re going to give glory somewhere: God, a parent, a coach, yourself… Knowing your “Why,” behind doing what you do, will help direct where you shine that light.

𝐉𝐨𝐞 𝐄𝐡𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐧 taught me how to shift from a 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 to an 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 and I’ve loved working with him on the Inside Out Initiative.

I always knew I cared deeply for people, and each of my clients/athletes. But when their overall well-being became what I asked about first, not their performance, they became 𝗨𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣𝗣𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 on and off the field.

Surround yourself with 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 people: coaches, pastors, leaders, friends and family who love you in the peaks and the valleys not just when you’re crushing life! And, when you notice someone being transactional with you, feel free to call an audible and walk away.

Frustration can often breed more of the same.
Sometimes you need to take a step back, reset, and begin again.

This morning I was doing my normal Monday morning deadlift routine. I got in a right mindset, stepped up, shins to the bar, and started my routine… but my strap slipped. I could’ve continued but I was aware I was starting to over think the lift and that rarely ends well with heavy weights. I took a step back, regrouped and went again this time with ease and confidence. The rest of the lift was great.

Sometimes we need to step back for a reset. Whether a conversation, project, series of decisions… We need fresh eyes, a new perspective, a better, focused mindset.

When you hear me say, “My Coach,” I’m talking about this guy.

3.5 years ago, I walked into the doors of Iron Tribe Franklin skeptical to say the least, but willing because my buddy JK loved it and believed I would too.

I sat on Austin’s couch and shared my fitness & nutrition journey for the last 20 years. Anorexia, bulimia, addicted to exercise (6-7 hours a day), r**e survivor, pregnancy, gained almost 100 lbs, scared to get thin again for fear I’d get r**ed again,
multiple deaths most recently my dad’s, navigating suicides of friends & teammates of clients, cancer x2 and dozens of surgeries.

Nothing had worked. I’d tried a lot. Even the “only eat one apple a day starvation plan” who the heck came up with that 🙋🏼‍♀️ I don’t know but it didn’t work either. I was genuinely scared my body was done. Too damaged. Too far gone. Too broken, bruised and scarred.

I asked if he REALLY thought he could help me. Without flinching, he started telling me not IF but HOW. It’s been a journey for sure. I have laughed and cried and cussed at some of his programming for me, & thought he was nuts when he TRIPLED the g of carbs I was supposed to consume.

But with every step I committed to being coachable and honest, & he committed to showing up. And he shows up all-in! I soon got to know his amazing wife and his kiddos literally melt my heart. I am times infinity.

From not being able to squat bc of bad knees to deadlifting 315 # and squatting over 225 #, shedding fat, gaining confidence and having a BLAST while doing it, he not only transformed my life, but I genuinely believe saved it. My Coaches, Austin, Kasper, Justin, Dave & their families are dawgs I would fight for.

AND TODAY is Dub’s BIRTHDAY! I am SO glad you were born. I’m grateful God allowed our paths to cross and for E getting to watch you as a husband, father and leader during his high school years. You and Em probably know more about me than anybody (including my Inbody numbers 🫣) and always push me farther than I ever believe I can go.

So I just want the world to know in a mushy-not-made-for-8s post how freaking honored I am to get to celebrate you today!!

A few weeks ago at one of my IronTribe PRIME Check-ins, Coach Austin & I talked about being prepared for all things. As someone who LOVES being so prepared it blows your mind at how on top of my A-Game I am, I was failing in being prepared nutritionally.

Out of town and out of my normal routine, I noticed I was eating out more with new friends, after E’s baseball games and even skipping meals then realizing I was fantasizing about throat punching traffic which led to wheeling into a fast food option. While I still made decent choices AT those places, there’s only so much good you can get when it’s pre-made and fast.

So, one of my action steps was to get a cooler JUST for my car that I could make and take with me. Then, when those hangry moments hit, I had options. Planned ahead, prepared, anticipated, ready, better, OPTIONS.

I wasn’t expecting to donate a couple hours of my life to the tire store today, but a late night nail in my tire stranded at a gas station, demanded I pivot.

So, after work appointments, here I am. And yes, it’s lunch time and it’s been a long time since the protein pancakes I had at 8am. BUT… because I committed to being more intentional and prepared nutritionally, it’s not a problem. I have options.

I have a necessary sparkling water, banana and a protein bar. Solid snack.

Options are great, and can make life run more smoothly. Options can increase self-confidence. Options can create margin, that in turn increases our capacity to navigate the unexpected.

It’s a BIG year for our rising high school junior athletes… options are going to be a game changer for your mental game & recruiting. But if you’re not committed and intentional, you will not have options.

Text: “OPTIONS” to 615-517-6900 and I’ll send you our “How to maximize your options during recruitment” pamphlet.

I will say the BEST way to maximize your options, next to visibility, is NAILING DOWN your mental game. If you’re not actively engaged in training your mind, you can’t expect Elite Performance and without it, your options will be limited.

We’ve got this!! There’s time! But the clock is ticking!! LET’S GOOO!

Don’t get lost in the emotions of a moment. Keep your head down, keep grinding and the results will come.

If you’re in the MLB and hit a slump, then shoot 76 on 18, that is not a sign you’re supposed to join the PGA Tour.
Keep Pushing, Keep Fighting. At the end of the day, it’s up to you and you alone to push through this.

“Peace and Exhaustion are not the same thing.”
Not even close.

I LOVE that feeling of CRUSHING it at the gym.  When you’ve trained so hard, or tackled a program you thought was going to tackle you, and made it through to the other side… there’s not another feeling quite like it.

Everything feels better, looks clearer and I usually have a slight feeling of invincibility to carry into whatever I might face the rest of the day.  It helps me own feeling “UNSTOPPABLE,” even when I’m not.

I told someone recently the most peace I felt during the day was when I was breathless at the gym.  That might be the BEST I feel during the day, but as I lay on the floor yesterday morning, drenched in deadlift and EMOM sweat, it hit me that indeed, peace and exhaustion are different.  Both can co-exist, they’re not mutually exclusive.

But, I was not at peace.  I was exhausted.  Peace comes from a different, more grounded placed, and isn’t something you find when you’ve “exhausted” all other options.  It’s something that can live and breathe whether you’re sitting in traffic, in game 7 of the World Series, the Super Bowl, a church softball game, church itself or a coffee shop.

Where do YOU find peace?
When do you experience peace most?

If that answer isn’t readily available, let’s talk!
