Increasingly, children request parental attention for their Christmas gift.

Dear Santa,

Hi, my name is Alex, and I’m 10 years old. I’m writing to you because I want to ask for something a little different this year. I know most of us kids ask for toys or games, but this year, I don’t really want any of that stuff. I don’t want any presents at all, actually. What I really want more than anything is to be important to my parents, even just for one day.

You see, my mom and dad don’t live together, and they’re always busy. They both work a lot, and when they’re not working, they seem tired or distracted. Sometimes, when I need something or I just want to talk to them, they get frustrated with me really easily. It makes me feel sad like I’m in the way, like they don’t want to spend time with me. I know they must love me, but sometimes I don’t feel like they know me or see how much I need them.

So here’s what I’m asking, Santa. I don’t need any presents this year, I’d rather give them all up forever if I could just have my mom's and dad's love, even if it’s just for Christmas. It’s only one day a year, and I think it would make me feel really happy inside if they could just spend some time with me and show me that I matter to them. I want to feel like I’m enough, like I belong with my family, and like they want to be with me.

I’m not asking for toys or games anymore. I just want to feel loved and like I’m special to my mom and dad. Please, Santa, if you could make that happen for me this Christmas, it would be the best gift ever.

Thank you for listening, and I hope you can make this wish come true.

Love,
Alex
