What is an assisted living home?
Assisted living is part of the long term care continuum which provides housing, personal services, health care, and social programming for those who need assistance with daily activities in a manner which promotes their independence and dignity. Assisted living homes are also commonly known as Residential Care, Adult Congregate Living and Personal Care homes. Regardless of the terminology, they all provide a level of care which meets the needs of those who do not require the services of a nursing home, but need more care than an independent living complex can offer.
Assisted living centers typically provide the following:
•24-hour staff security
•Assistance with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing and grooming
•Medication monitoring
•Meal service
•Activities and exercise programs
•Laundry and housekeeping services
•Transportation
•Barber and beauty services
