Hey everyone! For those that don’t know me, my name is Daniel James! I have been a pediatric physical therapist in Shreveport, LA for the last 6.5 years! Within that time, I have been honing my skills and learning so many amazing things that can bring hope, joy, and excitement into a child and family’s life!
As seen in recent posts, I have recently been certified as a pediatric pelvic floor therapist! It’s been such an awesome experience getting to learn and expand my knowledge into an area that’s near and dear to my life. You probably are asking “Why is that so near and dear to you???” Well here’s why!
During my childhood, pooping was something I didn’t like at all. I would withhold for days at a time, leading to significant constipation and an extremely affected GI system. This many years later, I still struggle with constipation and the repercussions of that, such as reflux-style symptoms, gas pains, and many other symptoms. Although my mom told me for years and years about how that pattern of withholding could lead to significant issues, I still fought with withholding because I was scared of the pain (which was significantly counterproductive now that I have learned all of this nowadays 🙃), “I didn’t want to miss out on (insert whatever activity, show, etc)”, and I just had learned that as my way of handling pooping.
That’s why pediatric pelvic floor therapy can help so many kiddos! I can now turn my years of GI struggles into the beacon of light and hope into a child and family’s life. I can now turn my pain and fear into a child’s strength to do the things that their body is meant to do. I get to impart so much knowledge into the child and the family around the many caveats and intricacies of mental health, physical health, and emotional health that’s associated with pediatric pelvic floor issues.
THAT’S what this is about. It’s about giving kiddos and families hope, strength, courage, and knowledge into all of these things! 🫶🏻
I hope and pray that you, your friends, and your family members would choose me to walk with in this journey. It would be my greatest honor to do that. 🙏🏼🫶🏻
