Hi, I’m Caylon and this is Moonshine, my 5-year-old 17.1hh Thoroughbred.

We’re bringing him along toward the jumpers/eventing world with big goals down the road—1.30m+ jumpers and 1/2⭐️ eventing—but right now it’s all about building him the right way. Strength, conditioning, confidence, and making sure he enjoys the job.

Moonshine is as goofy as they come. If it exists, he’s going to try to eat it, play with it, or at least investigate it. His favorite “treat” is Dunkin cinnamon coffee, which honestly tells you everything you need to know about him.

Over the next 6 months, my goal is to have him confidently cruising 2’6 at home and competing around the 2’ level. I want to get him out as much as possible—local shows, exhibitions, anything to get miles on him and make the show environment second nature.

Looking ahead, I plan to travel to Florida for a few schooling shows, with the goal of competing at WEC next year and stepping into a more competitive environment. By the end of 2026, I want us solidly and confidently jumping 2ft+ and continuing to move up.

We’re at the start of something big, and I’m excited to see what this horse becomes. we’ve got a lot coming ♥️

Hi I’m Nieve! I am senior in college preparing to graduate with my degree in Biology in just a few short weeks. I purchased my horse Gumbo (Bayou Prospector) a little over 3 years ago, and he is a 2017 OTTB. We competed in the 2023 Thoroughbred Makeover and were 7th place in Amateur Dressage. Recently, we have been preparing to get back into the show ring after some time off, due to me being a full time student. We hope to event at beginner novice, and a long-term goal is to compete at Area Championships and the AEC! In our free time, Gumbo and I love to trail ride with our friends and do groundwork. He loves any and all snacks, but if he had to pick a favorite, it would probably be Stud Muffins or apples! A goal for the next 6 months is to continue gaining fitness, improving on our lateral work, and solidifying his changes!

Meredith is a 3-year-old Quarter Horse mare that I got completely untouched, so everything she knows has been built from the ground up. I’ve put a lot of time into her foundation with groundwork, and we’re just now starting our riding journey together.

She’s being started with the goal of becoming a barrel horse, while also doing fun speed events. I also plan to incorporate some English work with her, including dressage and hunter/jumper, to keep her well rounded and versatile. She’ll also be used as a trail horse.

As she’s been progressing, I’ve noticed she can be a little sensitive around her withers and in her back end, which made me want to be proactive about keeping her comfortable and feeling her best. I really think body work is going to help her tremendously as she continues to grow, develop, and transition into more consistent riding work.

Loki is a 15 year old (just had his birthday!) AQHA that I got summer of 2022 as my high school graduation present.
He's been to a couple of shows here and there, but after having some major time off I'm working on getting him back up to speed. He loves cross country (more than stadium haha), so when he's back in business one of my showing goals is to event with him.
Normally with snacks, he'll eat one kind for a while but eventually turn his nose to it; however, apples and sugar cubes have consistently been his favorite.
Out of two goals that I have for him, the easier one is packing on muscle and getting him beefy. The harder one is getting him to like dressage 😆 overall, even with his issues, I am so incredibly grateful to call him mine.
He tries so so hard at everything he does, even if he feels like it's going to eat him alive. He LOVES butt scratches and would actually die for them. He's such a fun ride and I can't wait for him to be feeling his best!

Prayers please for the people and horses in Florida and Georgia getting hit and having to evacuate due to fires! I have several clients currently evacuating themselves, their horses and pets in both states, please if you need anything at all! Reach out!! I am located in Southern VA but I have a lot of other connections in these states!
Please stay safe ♥️♥️♥️

The next few days will be posts about the ladies in the sponsorship program! I want everyone to get to know them as well so we can all cheer them and their horses on this season! We can watch together as they grow and reach their goals ♥️

The top thing I learned this weekend? The equine body is so BEAUTIFUL, inside and out!
Nature also created repeating patterns in the body, the ribbing pattern in the mouth and abdomen, nerves and tendons branching like the strongest trees, protective layers reminiscent of a spider web, amazingly the back of the eye looking like the most beautiful seashell blue!
I am still ruminating and processing all of the information I learned. This horse was a DSLD horse, which is very near and dear to my heart since it is so prevalent in gaited horses, and the things I learned and saw were incredible!
Becks Nairn and her amazing assistants (Dianne and Kerry) also took time to section out parts of the nervous system for me since that is the basis of my bodywork and seeing the nerve branches was just ~breathtaking~
I am so thankful for this opportunity to further my education, this was my second dissection and I hope to do a third soon!
"Thoughtful bodywork for the horse in front of you"

Stay tuned for some individual deep dives!

(Facebook blurred my first post photos so it's been edited to be a bit more educational in content so hopefully it'll pass!)

Strawberry is a 23 year old Belgian x Percheron mare owned by Hunter D Yaughn and is used for carriage driving events (weddings etc), and trail riding.
Her owner reports her having arthritis in her right front knee, being lame and sore until placed on joint supplements but has deteriorated again. This has affected her career as a carriage horse in just a short amount of time- so perhaps there's more going on than just arthritis?
Hunters goal through this program is to manage her discomfort and be able to use her in the fall for a friend's wedding!
Follow along as I investigate her body to find if there is a deeper cause, and see if we can meet the goal of the wedding in the fall! Maybe more!

The start of the discoveries over the weekend.. DSLD is near and dear to my heart because it so commonly effects gaited horses, the fact that it is more than the Suspensory ligaments was astonishing.
The damage to this sweet mares Nuchal Ligament was so unexpected to me, but this moment has opened my mind to how hard it is on their body and how quickly it can break down in these integral spots.
I will be doing more research on this subject, and I will become more educated on what DSLD is now being called (ESPA) so I can better help the bodies of the horses with it that I work on now and in the future, this is what continuing education is for ♥️
