UPDATE (as always please no messages or comments here as we do not continuosly monitor this page)
Dear Patients and Families,
We would like to update you as to our office scheduling and operations during this time of COVID-19 illness. We are making some changes to how things run, but, as always, we are always accessible via telephone for any questions or concerns.
These changes will continue to evolve, but rest assured we are working as best we can to keep access to medical advice and visits available but also need to be as safe as possible and protect our patients and families and our staff.
1) For the time being, we will book well child visits/check ups and any non-illness related necessary follow ups or urgent problems in the first half of the day ONLY. We hope that you all understand this temporary change. Depending on how things evolve, we might need to also limit these types of appointments. PLEASE call us and cancel your well visit if you or your child is unwell at all as we cannot risk exposure to our office staff and other families in the office.
2) We will have sick visits in the afternoon half of our day. The children we deem necessary to see for an illness concern, will be booked only in the afternoon so that we may limit the paths of sick and well children crossing and to allow the extra time for our additional cleaning that might be necessary.
3) Other options for illness visits: Governor Baker is allowing all medical facilities to do telehealth visits so we will be able to have these types of visit (either telephone call or possibly video call) for illnesses that need evaluation and advice, but that sound high risk for exposure to our office or that we feel can be evaluated well enough in this manner. We also can have these types of visits for some other visits that might not require in person physical exam, such as behavior concerns, medication follow ups, etc.
4) We ask that only 1 caregiver come to appointments with their child. We would like to limit the number of children and people in our office if they do not have an appointment.
5) We ask that anyone who has a Patient Gateway account (those that don’t, we will be working to get this set up for you more easily that had been the process in the past), please log in prior to well visit and do the assigned questionnaires prior to your check up appointment, as we will not be using the in office iPads.
Thank you for your understanding during this time. We will continue to try to update you all as we are able to with any new changes or developments.
Sincerely,
All of us at McKenzie Pediatrics
