As a nurse scientist, Sheree Loftus, PhD, MSN, APRN-BC, helped advance Parkinson’s research, deep brain stimulation, and evidence showing that exercise improves balance and cognition. She also fought to ensure nurses were recognized as full members of research teams, long before it was standard practice. Previously, only the names of doctors and PhDs were listed as authors on published papers.
Because of trailblazers like Sheree, nurses are now well-known as essential contributors to scientific discovery and innovation, helping improve health outcomes for all.
“People don’t know nursing research exists, but we make a difference,” Sheree said. “The Power of Nurses™ is guiding patients through the healthcare system – whether that’s with clinical expertise, compassion, or research.”
