Día de los Mu***os, or Day of the Dead, is a time to celebrate and remember departed family and friends. The day is filled with music, dancing, food and is celebrated throughout the world. While the celebration is fun, it’s also a serious holiday that pays respect to loved ones that have passed on.
A Día de los Mu***os celebration typically lasts two days. It begins on November 1st, honoring children and infants, also known as Día de los Inocentes or Day of the Innocents. November 2nd, known as Día de los Mu***os, is the day for honoring adults.
One of the most important traditions of Día de los Mu***os is setting up colorful and festive altars in memory of the deceased. The altar might include things such as favorite foods of the loved one, flowers, candles, photos, and other items that honor the deceased. Candy skulls made of sugar are a reminder to enjoy life and embrace mortality.
Items traditional to all Día de los Mu***os altars are salt, considered the spice of life; marigolds for their color and aroma; water to quench the thirst of the loved one; and candles to light the way.

Special Thank You to our residents who put this altar together for all to see.
