We are proud to announce that our friends at the Paley Institute are leading in clubfoot treatment for children globally.

Clubfoot is a result of short and tight tendons restricting the flexibility of the ankle, causing the foot to turn down and inward in most cases. This condition affects 1 infant out of every 1,000 live births. According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), this frequency makes clubfoot one of the most common congenial foot deformities.

Parents from all over the world bring their children to Dr. Matthew Dobbs, who leads Dobbs Clubfoot Center at Paley Institute, to find treatment for congenital orthopedic problems. The treatment philosophy at The Dobbs Clubfoot Center focuses on reconstruction over amputation, and a commitment to preserving limbs and joints and restoring function.

Disabled West Lothian girl’s chance to walk after surgeon gives 'miracle op' discount.

Our friend at Paley Institute, Dr.Feldman, is on course to perform another 'miracle surgery' for five-year-old Arabella Green in Poland.

Arabella was born with a rare condition called arthrogryposis which causes her joints to curve in an abnormal way, leaving her disabled.

Despite having multiple operations at Edinburgh’s Sick Kids Hospital, she has been told that there is nothing more the NHS can do for her to help her walk and that she will be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.

Her dad, William, has not given up and If William can raise the money by October 26, Arabella will have the potentially life-changing surgery at the European Paley Institute in Poland on this date.

You can get more information as well as the link for Arabella's GoFundMe here: https://www.magazine.medicaltourism.com/article/disabled-west-lothian-girls-chance-to-walk-after-surgeon-gives-miracle-op-discount?utm_campaign=Arabella_Green&utm_medium=Post&utm_source=Facebook

A West Lothian dad, who is raising thousands of pounds to take his daughter abroad for specialist treatment after she was told she would be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life, has been offered a discount by a top doctor.

In the post-pandemic era, one way that employers—particularly large self-funded employers—can minimize healthcare costs and optimize quality of care for their workers is to contract with Centers of Excellence (CoEs).

Centers of Excellence offer self-funding employers huge cost savings, better clinical outcomes, fewer admissions, and less diagnostic errors or treatment complications.

These healthcare providers offer healthcare services at bundled rates, allowing business owners to send a large number of employees to these facilities to receive care at significantly lower rates.

With pent-up demand for non-COVID-19-related healthcare needs and the surge of COVID-19 diagnostic and treatment needs, healthcare sellers pivoted care strategies to provide treatment to their patients across the world amid the restrictions.

As a result, the pandemic launched a rapid uptake and adoption of digital solutions to meet these healthcare needs.

By April 2020, telemedicine consultations grew from less than 1 percent of primary care visits to nearly 43.5 percent. The current trajectory of virtual care has created new models of care that would transform medical care after the crisis.

Continue reading to learn of some applications of telemedicine during the pandemic that could potentially transform healthcare going forward.

Southeast Asia’s medical tourism industry grew to become a major player driving global medical travel in recent years.

Among the popular ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) destinations for medical travel, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia had become major players, driving inbound travel to the region for their competitive rates, top-line medical care, technological advancement, and renowned medical expertise.

However, the coronavirus pandemic slackened the growth of the industry in the region, with stakeholders uncertain about the future of the industry.

So what plans does Asia's top medical travel destinations have in place to rebuild the medical tourism industry? Continue reading: https://bit.ly/30v8zIR

Even though the pandemic remains under control in most parts of Southeast Asia, the erratic nature of the infection has discouraged authorities from opening up their borders and also dissuaded patients from visiting medical travel destinations still battling with the pandemic

In September 2020, researchers in the UK identified a coronavirus variant that differed significantly from the previous strains of the virus.

The strain was detected in Kent and the Greater London area of the country, and within a short time, spread swiftly to every part of the country.

By mid-November, the new strain called B.1.1.7 was responsible for 26 percent of all cases of COVID-19 in the UK; and by the first week of December, it had caused 60 percent of all confirmed cases.

So what do these new coronavirus variants mean for travel? Continue reading:https://bit.ly/388auXZ

These new travel restrictions may linger until scientists better understand how these variants behave and find effective therapeutic and preventive interventions against them
