It has been a BEAUTIFUL 6 year journey. One filled with growth, learning, expansion, surrender, power, creation, ascension and pure, absolute magic. So it is with a multitude of emotion that I share AIM Yoga will be closing her doors after Sunday morning class on April 23rd.

Despite how things may seem, the fact of the matter is that we are no longer able to cover our rising monthly expenses.

To everyone who supported us throughout the years - thank you πŸ™πŸΌ - I think you all know this wouldn’t be possible without you.
To the dedicated month members, some who have been here since day 1 - thank you - you are the steadiness that small businesses rely on to survive, and I am so grateful for your unwavering support.
To our recently new members - thank you for finding us and walking inside - it truly pains me to have to close when you just discovered something so beautiful.

This end leads to a beautiful rebirth. I don’t know what is yet to come, but I KNOW my soul work on this planet is not finished. I understand your shock, heartache, attachment, and desperation to help change the outcome of your beloved studio - that means more to me than you will ever possibly know - but I have put in the work to be at peace with this decision. Despite the financial facts staring me in the face, I don’t feel one ounce of failure. AIM Yoga is a huge success story in a small town and I feel anchored in my choice to close. I am going out on my terms, with vitality, in good fuggin health (because some of you know I hit rock bottom and truthfully didn’t know if my life would ever be the same), and with a passion for teaching yoga in my heart.

I am choosing to look at this as a new beginning. A shifting. I hope you cherished every second of our time together β€” our paths divinely crossed for a reason β€” we were each given the lessons we needed in that moment to build our toolboxes. Pop-Up Class: Baptiste Inspired Flow

Looking to add some power and heat to your practice? Come and explore the effects of a 75-minute Baptiste-inspired power class with Kristen. The sequence consists of 53 postures purposefully arranged in 11 sections that facilitate the embodiment of integration, vitality, balance, grounding, opening and release among others. Dedicated power yogis enjoy the unchanging nature of the class as it helps the practitioner think less about the choreography, drop into the body and remain meditative in the movement. We will break down the ujjayi breath, move with strength and rest. Participants will be invited to modify many postures, but this offering will be vigorous, athletic and fast-paced in nature. Some knowledge of vinyasa yoga is encouraged.

Are you ready to remove emotional blockages so you can manifest the life you want? Join Leah Pardee to let loose, shake it all off, and enter the weekend feeling at ease. We will begin the workshop with a guided Breathwork session to release repressed emotions and loosen up our bodies. Getting nice and warm and cozy, we'll then flow right into intuitive dance. Move those hips to release trauma, sway to the rhythm to tap into your divine feminine energy. Breathing continues as we dance through our emotions. Class ends in a guided meditation.

New Moon New Year Intention Setting

Ease into 2023 with clarity, intention, and inspiration. Join Lindsay for an evening of yoga, meditation, and intention-setting during the January New Moon 🌚 in Aquarius ♒️. Leaving mercury retrograde, this is the perfect start of a new lunar cycle to set new intentions, goals and authentic alignment for the month or year ahead. The new moon is a time to cleanse, prepare, have hope, and be open. The new moon invites you to welcome fresh energy and be aware of divine guidance and direction.

The evening will begin with a short discussion about the astrological themes of the January new moon, followed by a 40 minute lunar flow, and 20 minute guided meditation to quiet your mind and tune into the flow of information from your guides, higher self, and the Universe. The end will allow time for journaling, reflection, and guided intention setting.

Please bring a yoga mat, journal, and something to write with.

Supta Baddha Konasana | Reclining Bound Angle Pose | Recling Butterfly is a restorative hip opener that stretches the groin, adductors, knees, chest, & shoulders while releasing tension in the upper & lower back >> reducing stress. This pose also externally rotates the hips, increasing their mobility which stimulates the meridians (lines of energy) of the kidney and bladder.

To perform:
1. Exhale and lower your back torso all the way toward the floor, supporting your head/neck on a block, pillow, blanket or bolster if needed.
2. Bring the soles of your feet together and let your knees fall open in the shape of a diamond.
3. Options: Place both hands on your lower abdomen; place your left hand on your heart and your right hand on your belly; or lay your arms on the floor, angled at about 45 degrees from the sides of your torso, palms up.
**For more shoulder opening - bring your arms up overhead and lay them on the floor, armpits looking at the sky or consider grabbing opposite elbows.
4. Start with 5 to 10 breaths (maybe trying ⏹breath πŸ˜‰) and gradually extend your stay 5 to 10 minutes.
5. To come out, roll onto your side and push yourself up.

πŸ¦‹ If you have any pain in your knees or groin use cushions, blocks, or blankets under the knees to elevate them or extend your diamond shape.
πŸ¦‹ If you have a hard time lying flat or find your lower back is arching a lot you may need to place a bolster along the length of your spine. And some people just prefer the bolster!
πŸ¦‹ It is not advisable in🀰🏻to lie flat on your back for too long so supporting your back on a bolster or high stack of cushions is a great way to participate. Be mindful that relaxin makes you more flexible/less stable so use extra support and don’t go for your maximum stretch. (Same for🀱🏻hormones).
πŸ¦‹ To assist the groins sinking into the pelvis, lay a 10-pound sandbag across each inner thigh.
πŸ¦‹ Place a sandbag from the chest to the stomach to help reduce anxiety and promote deeper breathing.
πŸ¦‹ Lay a blanket on top of you for warmth and comfort, especially when remaining here for longer periods.
πŸ¦‹ Use an eye pillow over the eyes to reduce outside stimulation.
πŸ¦‹ Utilize those crystals!! πŸ’Ž

It’s Lindsay bringing you one of her favorite calming breaths - Sama Vritti Pranayama!!

Box breathing, square breathing, equal breathing or 4x4 breathing is a form of yogic deep breathing that is so beneficial in calming you down that it is a technique employed by the US Navy SEALs.

Box breathing refers to the fact that a box has four sides β€” and as such, the practitioner breathes in for four counts, holds for four counts, exhales for four, and retains the exhale for four more. To practice:
1. Breathe out slowly, releasing all the air from your lungs.
2. Breathe in through your nose as you slowly count to four in your head. Be conscious of how the air fills your lungs and stomach.
3. Hold your breath for a count of four.
4. Exhale for another count of four.
5. Hold your breath again for a count of four.
6. Repeat for three to four rounds.

The benefits of box breathing:
🌬Lowering stress - regulating your breath can lower levels of cortisol (a stress hormone) which helps to lower blood pressure.
🌬Activating the parasympathetic nervous system - we spend a majority of our day in β€œfight or flight” mode under high levels of stress. Hence, we are using the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) breathing shallowly and quickly, making us more anxious. Box breathing can help tap into your β€œrest and digest” response, or the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). It is in the PNS that we are able to think clearer, pause before reacting, and live in a more mindful container
🌬Calming the mind - as you are breathing, you’re also silently counting, which is a kind of mantra meditation.

Cool right?!? Try it out first thing in the morning; after a stressful day; or better yet, during a moment of overwhelming emotion.

*Contraindications include pregnancy or any health condition where holding the breath would create adverse side effects. It may be beneficial to change the breath counts β¬†οΈβž‘οΈβ¬‡οΈβ¬…οΈ to 2 or 3 while building tolerance for 4. Though not perfectly square, Lindsay lowered the retention/hold counts during her 4 pregnancies as her body & baby needed.

As with anything, keep practicing this breath to find more ease!

Kelsie teaches our signature AIM Power class on Thursday evenings 6:00-7:00PM. She brings her own unique style & grounding vibes to all her classes. The studio absolutely adores her energy πŸ’«

Now let’s get to know Kelsie better:

When/how did you get into yoga?
I began yoga around 2014 through a therapist’s recommendation to help ease symptoms of anxiety and depression. I quickly learned that yoga allowed me to learn more about myself, my body, and my spirituality. I became certified in 2016 and have been teaching ever since. I knew I had to share the gift of yoga with as many people as possible.

Favorite pose +/or quote:
My favorite yoga pose(s) would be triangle and 1/2 pigeon. My favorite (current) quote: β€œI thank the universe for all it has given me, and all that it has taken away.”

Most challenging pose:
Anything involving backbends.

Favorite thing to do off of the mat:
In my free time I love watching movies and spending quality time with my daughter. I also love being outdoors going for walks or swimming in rivers/creeks.

Fun info:
I’m also learning to deepen my spirituality through books- current topics of research include law of attraction/assumption, positive affirmations, and energy clearing. I believe that human bodies can store trauma, stress, and pent up emotions in the body, which makes yoga a particularly valuable experience because as we learn to sit through stretches and breathe through the β€œuncomfortable sensations”, we can release these built up emotions and create space in the body, which results in a sense of lightness.
