That little steering wheel toy in your playroom? It’s a powerful tool for building speech & language during everyday play! Here are easy ways parents can use it at home to support communication:

🗣️ Model simple words
go • stop • turn • beep • fast • slow • help
👉 Say the words as your child plays:
“Go car!” “Beep beep!” “Turn!”

🎯 Give fun directions
“Turn the wheel.”
“Push the button.”
“Beep the horn!”
👉 As your child grows, try 2 steps: “Turn and beep!”

🔊 Make car sounds together

👉 Pause and wait—see if your child copies you

📚 Pretend you’re going somewhere
“Let’s drive to Grandma’s!”
“Go to the store.”
“Uh-oh, crash!”
