This past Saturday we had such a wonderful time at the Zumbini Beats Class! 🥰 Our little learners played with instruments, danced, jumped, and laughed as they learned.

The songs were so educational 🥹 My little one went home knowing more sign language and how to keep a steady tempo in such a fun and interactive way.

What is Zumbini?

Zumbini is an early childhood education program that blends original music and movement to support your child’s cognitive, social, physical, and emotional development—all while creating meaningful bonding experiences between caregivers and little ones ages 0–4.

Each class is thoughtfully designed to nurture growth through play:

✨ Fine & Gross Motor Skill Development
Through engaging songs and activities, children will strengthen fine motor skills with small movements like playing instruments, and build gross motor skills through dancing and full-body movement.

✨ Social Development
Zumbini encourages interaction with instructors, peers, and caregivers. The mixed-age, interactive environment fosters confidence, connection, and early social skills.

✨ Cognitive Development
Music and movement work together to stimulate both sides of your child’s brain. Little ones will begin recognizing patterns, following sequences, and using observation and reasoning to participate in activities.

✨ Emotional Development
With a variety of rhythms, tempos, and expressive songs, children will explore and experience a wide range of emotions—supporting emotional awareness during these important early years.

🎶 Program Details:
• Trial Class: May 2nd 10am to 12pm – $25 per child | $15 additional sibling
• 6-Week Session: $120 per child (begins the following week, 10am to 12pm)
• Drop-In Rate: $25 (if space is available)

On the news they’ve been discussing how the American Academy of Pediatrics is warning schools against reducing or removing recess time because of the negative impact it has on children’s learning, focus, behavior, emotional well-being, and mental health.

And truthfully, this conversation is long overdue.

Years ago, children were given more opportunities throughout the school day to move their bodies, socialize, explore outdoors, and simply experience childhood. There were multiple recesses, longer lunches, and more unstructured play woven naturally into the day.

Today, many children are expected to spend the majority of their school hours sitting still, preparing for tests, navigating increased screen time, and meeting constant academic demands with very little opportunity to reset mentally or physically.

But children’s developmental needs have not changed‼️

Young children were never designed to learn best through hours of continuous sitting and compliance-based instruction. Their brains and bodies require movement, play, interaction, creativity, and sensory experiences in order to fully engage in learning.

Recess is not a distraction from education.
Play is not separate from learning‼️

In many cases, recess is what allows learning to happen successfully in the first place. ❤️

When children are given opportunities to run, climb, imagine, socialize, problem-solve, and explore freely, they return to the classroom with improved focus, stronger emotional regulation, better behavior, increased engagement, and healthier social connections.

These are not “extra” benefits.
These are foundational developmental needs.

And recess should never be treated as a rushed 15-minute break simply added to satisfy a requirement. It deserves to be valued as an essential part of a child’s educational experience, just like reading, math, science, and other academic subjects.

Some of the highest-performing education systems in the world recognize the importance of balanced learning environments that prioritize outdoor play, movement, social interaction, and child development alongside academics.

We cannot continue expecting children to thrive while removing the very things that support healthy brain development. 💔

This past Tuesday’s Clay Day was filled with creativity, laughter, and so many sweet moments of learning through play! 🥹❤️🫟 We loved seeing so many little learners come in ready to explore, create, and use their imaginations during our Clay Day Tuesday activities.

There is something so special about watching children proudly create with their own hands. From rolling and shaping to squishing and designing, every little masterpiece was unique and so thoughtfully made. Everyone’s creations turned out SO good, and we truly enjoyed watching each child express themselves creatively while building important developmental skills through sensory play.

At For the Love of Learning SETX, moments like these remind us exactly why we created this space. Seeing families gather together, little ones making friends, parents smiling and engaging alongside their children, and the excitement on each child’s face as they learn through play brings us so much joy.
