Jane Goodall’s passing at 91 is a reminder of what one life, lived with conviction, can accomplish.
Her groundbreaking work with chimpanzees transformed science, but her true legacy was building a global conservation movement and showing that each of us can make a difference. At a time when the needs of the world feel overwhelming, her words resonate:
“I like to envision the whole world as a jigsaw puzzle... If you look at the whole picture, it is overwhelming and terrifying, but if you work on your little part of the jigsaw and know that people all over the world are working on their little bits, that’s what will give you hope.”
Since a 3rd grade book report, I have counted Dr. Goodall among my heroes. She showed us that impact doesn’t come from titles or status, but from curiosity, persistence, and the courage to act.
