⏰ Wise Words Wednesday: Time Changes Are Weird
Daylight saving time hits and suddenly…
nothing feels quite right.
It’s 2:00 PM but your brain insists it’s 1:00.
You’re hungry at strange times.
Bedtime feels early.
Morning feels impossible.
And honestly? That’s normal.
Our brains like consistency, so when time suddenly shifts, it can take a few days to adjust.
Instead of pretending we’re perfectly on track, it can actually help our kids to hear us talk through the adjustment out loud. It shows them that feeling thrown off sometimes is just part of being human.
Let them hear things like:
💬 “Even though it’s 2 PM, my brain still thinks it’s 1 PM. I’m so confused.”
💬 “Time changes are so weird… now I’m curious why we even do this. Let’s look it up later.”
💬 “I feel a little off today — I think my body is still adjusting to the new time.”
When we say these things out loud, we model something really important:
It’s okay to feel off.
It’s okay to take time to adjust.
And curiosity helps our brains make sense of change.
Sometimes the best lesson we can give our kids is simply:
Everyone gets a little mixed up sometimes.
