MotionWorks Physical Therapy is closing permanently this month. This tough decision comes after years of battling serious heart and lung issues now thought to be related to autoimmune disease. My latest battle has lasted over a year since I was last able to treat patients, and it is just too costly to maintain an empty space without a timeline to return.
While the ending to any story is sad, it has been wonderful to spend some time in my clinic over the past several weeks remembering all of the laughs and stories shared with patients, colleagues, friends, and family. It was truly amazing to take some time to appreciate all of the love I poured into every detail of the clinic to make it the ideal place to receive high quality, patient-centered physical therapy for all who entered. MotionWorks truly was a family business, and my kids have the best memories of taking naps in treatment rooms, the open house Christmas gala, working their weekly cleaning jobs;), and had so many more dreams to take it over someday as physical therapists themselves. I personally have the most amazing memories of the relationships I have built with patients, fitness clients, and everyone else I happened to meet through my first experience of owning a business. It is all of those relationships and memories that I will always treasure.
I have so many people to thank for the success of MotionWorks Physical Therapy over the past 12 years, starting with my patients who put their trust in me as the new PT in town. You all were so kind and loyal and spread the word to everyone you knew, and soon I couldn't see all of the patients that were calling for physical therapy! Thank you so much!! It was so much fun to see you at the Timber Rattler games and out and about, back to doing the things that bring you joy. The satisfaction of seeing my patients shine is what still inspires me today!
A big thank you to my PT colleagues over the years, especially Rebecca and Steve. My PTs and employees eagerly delivered our patient-first, high quality physical therapy services and helped expand our clinic offerings, and fill in when I was too sick to see my patients.
Thank you to so many members of our Fox Valley community who supported me and my business for so many years. I've had the honor to meet so many people I never would have otherwise met, a bonus of owning a small business I never anticipated, but was such a blessing. It takes everyone in a community for a new small business to succeed, and there were so many who played a role in our success in big and small ways behind the scenes.
And finally, thank you to my amazing children, McKenzie, Aiden, and Adelyn, whose support for their mommy has never wavered through the early years (Friday night dance parties in the living room), the middle years (patients scheduled all hours of the day and night), and especially these last several very difficult years battling serious illness. They have always understood why the MotionWorks mission was so important to me as proof positive that patients desire input in their care, including who they see for physical therapy, and that when they receive individualized, patient-centered care, the outcomes speak volumes.
I thank God for calling me to this career of helping and serving others. It gives me so much joy and satisfaction, I can hardly call it "work." I tell my kids to find and pursue their passion in life, so they, too, never have to work a day. I know that while the MotionWorks Physical Therapy chapter in my life is over, I look forward to so much more that God has in store for my future. Thanks to all of you for your kindness and support!!😘
