Island Shores residents had the opportunity to enjoy some live music on Monday morning. The Second Time Around Band came and performed a lot of fun music for us! They are part of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton and brought their lively music for everyone to enjoy! We hope to have them back soon to have more live music in the near future!

Island Shores Residents and Staff were treated to a real treat to soothe that sweet tooth last week, Friday. Natalie from The Riveter hosted a cookie pop-up sale. She brought in a variety of cookies to sell (Peanut Butter M& M, Oatmeal Cinnamon Toffee, Sea Salt Chocolate Chip, Maple Butterscotch Oatmeal, and Fudge Brownie Cookies).
Everyone enjoyed the samples as well as the cookies they purchased.

Island Shores residents spent the afternoon at High Cliff State Park in Sherwood yesterday. We rented a cabin and had a great time! We enjoyed the cookout that Chef Aaron prepared for us, live music by Seth and a campfire complete with s’mores. Everyone enjoyed their time in nature and truly enjoyed this trip. The weather was absolutely perfect for our annual camping trip, which was rescheduled to yesterday after we had to move the date from July due to a very warm and rainy forecast.

Residents were treated to music and jokes with Ventriloquist Terry Walker and his Pal Danny today. Everyone enjoyed listening to the songs and jokes Terry and Danny had to share. Terry gave away prizes throughout the performance, everyone seemed to enjoy the show.

On Friday July 25th one of our Residents (Jim H) had the opportunity to take part in the Old Glory Honor Flight. We have quite a few Veterans who have had this opportunity, this flight in particular left from the EAA Grounds in Oshkosh. Jim is an Air Force Veteran, when asked what impressed him most, he said he hasn't had the opportunity to fly much over the past few years and was amazed at how smooth the plane ride was. He was also very impressed with the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. That evening upon returning back to Oshkosh, all the Veterans got a true Hero's welcome home with thousands of guests cheering as they departed the plane. Although it was a long day Jim truly enjoyed this very special trip!

Hours of practice, Countless games and it all came down to this. The Shuffleboard championship game occurred last week Thursday, a day earlier than usual as we moved the Friday game to Thursday due to the 4th of July Holiday. The teams finished strong! Island Shores Residents enjoyed a new to us program made possible through Lutheran Social Services-Make The Ride Happen.
We enjoyed Trishaw rides piloted by a volunteer. We took numerous trips exploring Doty Island and had a neighbor lady send bouquets of flowers back to brighten our day. The Trishaw will be back in July, August and September to do more rides. We can’t wait!

National Dance Like A Chicken Day was May 14th, Residents and Staff were sure to hop on the newest Social Media Craze. It’s called the Chicken-Banana Song and we had so much fun participating in this latest trend! We hope you enjoy watching our dance moves to!
