You may have asked the question, "Why does my mind feel busiest at night before falling asleep or waking up in the middle of the night?" The mind often feels busiest at night because silence has a way of turning our attention inward. When the noise of the day fades of conversations, responsibilities, distractions, and we’re left alone with our thoughts. In that quiet, the mind fills the space, replaying moments, asking questions, and surfacing feelings we didn’t have time to notice before. Silence doesn’t create the thoughts; it simply removes the filters, tuning us more deeply into ourselves.
⭐🌛What are some things we can do? Yoga nidra and a nightly routine offer a soft landing at the end of the day. As the lights dim, and familiar rituals begin, the body receives a quiet message that it’s safe to rest. Yoga nidra gently guides the mind out of effort and into ease, allowing thoughts to slow without needing to be pushed away. Wrapped in stillness and repetition, the nervous system unwinds, the inner chatter softens, and sleep feels less like something to chase and more like something that naturally arrives.
Some other helpful things that I have applied to my nighly routine:
🥰 Before you do anything, make your bedroom cozy, comfortable, and a relaxing space.
⭐I Ditched my cellphone to wake me up, and started using The Hatch Alarm Clock. The Hatch Restore is a smart, app-controlled alarm clock and sound machine designed to improve sleep quality through personalized routines. It features a sunrise alarm that simulates natural light to wake you gently, alongside sound machines for white noise and, with a subscription, guided meditations and sleep stories. It serves as a bedside, all-in-one device for lighting, sound, and sleep management.
🌛Yoga Nidra for sleep to calm the mind.
⭐Breath work Lotus Breath or Flower Breathing
🌛Dim lighting
⭐ Magnesium 250mg 1/2 before sleep
🌛 Temperature 68 degrees
⭐A fan especially if you have hot flashes.
🌛Drink any water 1/2 an hour before sleep so to not wake up in the middle of the night.
⭐ Natural bedding like linen or bamboo a natural material that wicks moisture and helps aid in temperature regulation.
🌛 A good natural mattress like the Avocado Mattress.
Though we will all have evenings of sleeplessness, try not to add stress by worrying that you're not sleeping. Treat yourself with kindness and compassion, and if you've tried everything you can and still nothing works, reach out for some help to your health provider.
Wishing you sweet dreams 🌛⭐☮️❤️
