Dug out the acrylics today for a new piece. Started with one vision—ravens—but the painting had other ideas. By the time I stepped back, birch trees had emerged instead.

This is just the first layer of what may be many. It could look entirely different by the time it's done.

This is what I love about intuitive painting: the willingness to follow where the work wants to go, even when it surprises you.

Evolution of a painting.

This one started as a purely intuitive piece painted during one of Whitney Freya's online art workshops back in 2021.

I liked the energy of the first layer, and the etherial colors, but it felt ambiguous, like I couldn't really feel it shaping up into anything.

So, I let it sit for a couple of days.

When I came back to it, the frog showed up almost right away. The final piece came together super fast - I almost couldn't paint fast enough to keep up with the intuitive process!

Sometimes in life, like in art, things don't turn out as we had planned - they turn out better than we could have imagined!

We had our first hard frost last weekend. I spent it gathering tomatoes, making salsa verde, and painting these wild pears from a tree near my home.

There's something about autumn that speaks to the soul. Even as things die back, we're given the sweetest fruits of the year—the ones that sustain us through winter and carry us forward to spring.

The second piece in my chakra series: Svadhishthana, the sacral chakra.

Resting just below the navel, this energy center is the wellspring of creativity, sensuality, and emotional intelligence. It governs our ability to feel pleasure, express ourselves creatively, and flow with life's changes rather than resist them.

When Svadhishthana is open and balanced, we create with ease, embrace our desires without shame, and let joy ripple through our lives.

She's not pretty. She's not polite. She's the part of you that howls at the moon and refuses to shrink.

Your shadow self holds your power. The monster inside. The parts you've been taught to hide, suppress, or be ashamed of—those are often where you'll find the unfaced truths that can liberate your soul.
