Staying sober this Holiday Season..

If you're in recovery, the holidays can be a challenging time, but you’re not alone! Here are some tips to help you stay sober during holiday festivities:

✔️ Have a Plan: Know ahead of time what events you’ll attend and how you’ll manage triggers.
✔️ Set Boundaries: It’s okay to say “no” if you feel uncomfortable in certain situations.
✔️ Bring a Sober Buddy: Attend events with someone who supports your recovery.
✔️ Focus on the Positives: Enjoy the holiday moments without the need for alcohol or drugs.
✔️ Attend a Meeting: If you feel overwhelmed, attend a meeting to ground yourself.

Hi my name is Naloxone HCI..................

But I am more commonly referred to as Narcan. You can call me either because often by those who do not truly know me I have been called a lot worse. There are those who may consider me an enabler, and in some ways I guess they are correct. I do enable many things such as breathing, second chances, and recovery. I enable daughters to have mothers, and fathers to have sons. Ask one of the 13,265 Indiana residents that were revived after a potentially fatal overdose in 2020 what they think about me. They easily could be your neighbor, co worker, or family member. I have been used on people from all demographics, as the overdose events that I help reverse do not discriminate.
There are so many misunderstandings about who I am and what I do, so I would like to clear my name. Most commonly I am administered by emergency personnel or a loved one of someone who struggles with substance use disorder, not by someone who wants to use “just a little more”. My presence does not promote riskier substance usage, as research has shown an overdose reversal often is the catalyst that starts the journey into recovery.
I am not bogging down the emergency responders as I was administered in less than 2% of all of Indiana’s emergency incidents in 2020, and data does not support the false claims that I am always being used over and over on the same individuals.
I am not free, I mean what in life really is?
I am not an excuse....
I am not harmful in any way.......
What I am is a vital part of emergency care.
I have helped to save the lives of many people that have gone on to live an extraordinary life.
People who suffer from substance use disorder are often vulnerable to this because of their genetics, childhood trauma, peer pressure, and exposure to various substances either medically or through experimentation. The facts are that no one wakes up one day wanting to have an addiction. However people can overcome their struggle with substance use disorder, as long as they are still breathing.
I can be that persons next breathe.......
Nobody recovers when their dead, please do your research.
