An event coordinator I’ve been speaking with posted this today and I started speaking to her about the Safe Hearts Line!

YOUR CHILD’S PRIVATE PART IS NOT A SNACK!

One day, a little girl told her teacher “my uncle licked my cookie” the teacher thought nothing of it and said “next time ask for another cookie”. Months go by, and the mother of the child was talking to the teacher about a rash on the child’s “cookie” and that’s when the teacher realized what the child was trying to say.

Here’s the problem. If you do not teach your children the proper names for their parts, people can miss important signs of sexual abuse.

P***s and va**na are not bad words. Basic anatomy isn’t wrong and there’s no such thing as anatomy being “age appropriate”.

most of you know I am a Damsel in Defense consultant. Our mission is to spread the message of safety and situational awareness. I will be participating in an event for VIBES in October which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
We are having a virtual fundraiser leading up to the festival.

The fundraising push will wrap up with a Halloween Costume Parade and Festival on October 23 at Camp Alvernia from 10:00a – 1:00p. We will have vendors, food trucks, a costume parade (mostly for kids), and prizes. The costume parade (with some truck-or-treating) will be at 11:00. The awards ceremony will be at noon, with prizes given for best individual fundraisers, best team fundraisers, best group costumes, and best individual costumes. The goal is to make it a fun family event!

In honor of Pride Month in June, RAINN held a Survivor Summit with three inspiring LGBTQ members of the RAINN Speakers Bureau to discuss identity, gender, resilience, and healing after sexual trauma.

Jordan Masciangelo discussed the power of disclosure and how important it is for survivors to be able to share with a community that offers support and understanding.

“At the time, I was 17 and there were not many services for men and male identifying folks. It was like a dead end after a dead end. I took all of that courage that I had in the beginning and shoved it down. It was discouraging but I did eventually find a men's support group which helped me process a lot of that...I also found a therapy group of a community of men.”
